"Love Is A Many-Splendored Thing", written by Sammy Fain/Paul Francis Webster, was number one for six weeks on the Billboard Top 100 for The Four Aces in 1955. It peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart the same year.

The original Four Aces were Al Alberts, Dave Mahoney, Lou Silvestri, and Rosario Vaccaro.

"Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing" was part of the soundtrack of the 1955 movie "Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing" starring William Holden and Jennifer Jones. It won the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
2. "Standing On The Corner"

Answer: The Four Lads

"Standing On The Corner", written by Frank Loesser, peaked at number three on the Billboard Top 100 for The Four Lads in 1956. It peaked at number 34 on the UK Singles Chart in 1960.

The original Four Lads were James F. Arnold, Frank Busseri, Corrado Codarini and John Bernard Toorish.

The song was featured in the original Broadway production of "The Most Happy Fella" in 1956. The cast included Robert Weede, Jo Sullivan, Art Lund, Susan Johnson and Shorty Long.

"Graduation Day", written by Joe Sherman/Noel Sherman, peaked at number 17 on the Billboard Top 100 for The Four Freshmen in 1956. It did not chart in the UK.

After a few personnel and name changes Don Barbour, Ross Barbour, Bob Flanigan and Bob Kratzsch became The Four Freshmen in 1948. Since 1948 there have been more than 20 members of the group.

The Four Freshmen were a big influence on The Beach Boys, whose recording of "Graduation Day" appeared on their 1964 album "Beach Boys Concert".
4. "Big Man"

"Big Man", written by Bruce Belland/Glen A. Larson, peaked at number three on the Billboard Top 100 for The Four Preps in 1958. It peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart the same year.

The original members of The Four Preps were students at Hollywood High School. They were Bruce Belland, Edd Cobb, Marv Ingram and Glen A. Larson. They were signed to a recording contract with Capitol Records in 1956.

They had one other Top Ten hit when "26 Miles (Santa Catalina)" peaked at number two on the Billboard Top 100 in 1958.
5. "Hello Little Girl"

Answer: The Fourmost

"Hello Little Girl", written by John Lennon but credited to Lennon/McCartney, peaked at number nine on the UK Singles Chart for The Fourmost in 1963. It did not chart in the USA.

The Fourmost from Liverpool, were Billy Hatton, Dave Lovelady, Mike Millward and Brian O'Hara. With various other members they had been known as The Two Jays and The Four Jays; they changed their name to The Fourmost in 1962.

In 1963 Brian Epstein became their manager and George Martin became their producer. Between 1963 and 1965 The Fourmost had six entries on the UK Singles Chart, two of which made the Top Ten.
6. "Juliet"

Answer: The Four Pennies

"Juliet", written by Lionel Morton/Fritz Fryer/Mike Wilsh, was number one for one week on the UK Singles Chart. It did not chart in the USA.

The Four Pennies were Alan Buck, Fritz Fryer, Lionel Morton and Mike Wilshaw. The name The Four Pennies was decided on after the group held a meeting above a music shop, "Reidy's Home of Music" in Blackburn, Lancashire, UK, which happened to be situated on Penny Street.

Between 1964 and 1966 The Four Pennies had six chart entries on the UK Singles Chart but only their number one hit "Juliet" made the Top Ten. They disbanded in 1966.
7. "Baby I Need Your Loving"

Answer: The Four Tops

"Baby I Need Your Loving", written by Holland/Dozier/Holland, peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 for The Four Tops in 1964. It did not chart in the UK.

The Four Tops were Renaldo Benson, Abdul Fakir, Lawrence Payton and Levi Stubbs. They were first known as The Four Aims but when they signed for Chess Records in 1956, they became The Four Tops to avoid confusion with the Ames Brothers. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1999.

Their first chart success came with "Baby I Need Your Loving" when they signed for Motown Records in 1963. Between 1964 and 1988 they had 18 Top 20 hits of which seven were Top Ten hits, two of which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
8. "Silver Star"

Answer: The 4 Seasons

"Silver Star", written by Bob Gaudio-Judy Parker, peaked at number 38 on the Billboard Hot 100 for The 4 Seasons in 1976. It peaked at number three on the UK Singles Chart the same year.

The classic line up of the group were Tommy DeVito, Bob Gaudio, Nick Massi and Frankie Valli. They were very successful before and after the British invasion on the US music scene and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1999.

Between 1962 and 1994 they had 23 Top 20 hits of which 15 made the Top Ten and five reached the number one spot.
9. "The Bucket Of Water Song"

Answer: The Four Bucketeers

"The Bucket Of Water Song", written by John Gorman, peaked at number 26 on the UK Singles Chart for The Four Bucketeers in 1980. It did not chart in the USA.

The Four Bucketeers were Bob Carolgees, John Gorman, Sally James and Chris Tarrant. Sometimes comedian Lenny Henry joined them. They were all presenters on the British children's television series "Tiswas". It originally aired on Saturday mornings from 5 January 1974 to 3 April 1982.

"The Bucket of Water Song" was their only hit on the UK Singles Chart.
10. "What's Up"

Answer: 4 Non Blondes

"What's Up", written by Linda Perry, peaked at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 4 Non Blondes in 1993. It peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart the same year.

The 4 Non Blondes on "What's Up" were Christa Hillhouse, Linda Perry, Dawn Richardson and Roger Rocha. Members of the group at various other times were Wanda Day, Shaunna Hall and Louis Metoyer.

"What's Up" was number one in Austria, Belgium, Germany, The Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland.
