Answer: The Mechanics

Mike + the Mechanics was formed by Mike Rutherford, a member of the band Genesis in 1985. They played for 19 years, took a six year break and reformed. Their biggest hit was "The Living Years".
2. Frankie Lymon

Answer: The Teenagers

An early doo wop group, the Teenagers were joined by Frankie Lymon in 1954, when he was 12 years old. "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" was their first and biggest hit, in 1956. The group still sings, after many changes in the lineup.
3. Joan Jett

Answer: The Blackhearts

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts hit number one on the "Billboard Hot 100" in 1981 with "I Love Rock and Roll". Jett continues to perform singly and with the band.
4. Gary Lewis

Answer: The Playboys

The son of comedian Jerry Lewis, Gary Lewis fronted the quintet. Their biggest hit was "This Diamond Ring". Formed in 1964, their first big performances were at Disneyland. They broke up in 1970 but band members occasionally reunite.
5. Danny

Answer: The Juniors

A Philadelphia doo wop group, Danny Rapp was the leader of the group. Their first hit was "At the Hop" which topped the "Billboard Hot 100" at number one. That was followed by the prophetic "Rock and Roll Is Here to Stay". Millions of parents said "Please, no" but to no avail.
6. Lisa Lisa

Answer: Cult Jam

Lisa Valez and the Cult Jam formed their group in 1984, an urban contemporary band. "Head to Toe" and "Lost in Emotion" were number one hits on the "Billboard Hot 100" charts in the U.S. but the UK was not amused; the songs didn't get into the top fifty there.
7. Maurice Williams

Answer: The Zodiacs

Though they were one-hit wonders, Williams and the Zodiacs recorded "Stay", covered by many artists over the years. Williams wrote it in 1954, when he was fifteen years old, finally recording it in 1960.
8. Tony Orlando

Tony Orlando, joined by Telma Hopkins and Joyce Wilson had several hit records in the 1970s, including "Knock Three Times", "Candida" and "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree", which reached number one in much of the world.
9. Dick Dale

Answer: The Deltones

Dick Dale is known as the King of the Surf Guitar and a precursor to heavy metal bands. His playing style and use of higher amplification levels than had been used previously set him apart from other players of the time. The band's biggest hit was the modestly successful "Misirlou" but Dale influenced generations of guitar players to come.
10. Ruby

Answer: The Romantics

Ruby (Nash) and the Romantics were a '60s pop group from Ohio. They had a few modest hits but their biggest was "Our Day Will Come" which got to the top of the "Billboard Hot 100" in the U.S. and also placed well on the United Kingdom and Australian charts.
