Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What song are these lyrics from? "Oh honey why did you leave me?"

Answer: How Blue

This is our favorite Reba song. It was released on October 1, 1984, on the album "My Kind of Country". The song talks about a woman's boyfriend making her feel sad and "blue" all the time. The chorus of the song tells you pretty much what the song means:
"How blue can you make me
How long till I heal
How can I go on loving you when you're gone
How blue can I feel?"
2. Finish the lyrics? "You don't wanna hurt me so..."

Answer: you lie

The title to this song is "You Lie" . This was Reba's 14th number one hit. The video for this song was shot in black and white on a farm with horses. This song talks about a man cheating on his wife and he lies to her because he doesn't want to hurt her by telling her the truth; she finds out anyway and is hurt even more.
3. "The job's going fine and this bills are all paid". What song are these lyrics from?

Answer: What Am I Gonna Do About You

This song has a very high note in it which was no problem for Reba.
The note is on the second time she says "can't believe THAT we're through".
This song was released on the titled album "What Am I Gonna Do About You" on October 25, 1986 and it was at the top of the charts for number one on the week of January 27, 1986.
4. "I've packed your bags and left them in the hallway" The correct song is?

Answer: When Whoever's In New England

This is one of Reba's biggest hits!

In 2007 Sugarland's song "Stay" was inspired by this song. However this song was taken from perspective from Barry Manilow's 70's Pop Hit "Weekend In New England". This song also paved the way for Reba's first music video. It reached number one in 1986. Reba's song "Little Rock" was her next song after this one and it was also number one.
5. Which song do these lyrics belong to? "If you're reminiscing and you're missing me this much and you really wanna stay in touch"

Answer: Turn On The Radio

This song was released in 2010. The video is on CMT all the time; she turns on radios throughout the whole video.

This song debuted at number 54 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart on the week of July 24, 2010.
6. Fill in the blanks: Well back in ____ an ol'boy named ____ invented a contraption that we know so well. By the ____ they're in everybody's home, it's that crazy little thing they call the telephone.

Answer: 1876 / Bell / 1950s

This song is "Why Haven't I Heard From You".
The video takes place in a hair salon as Reba shows us how she looks in several different hair styles. "Why Haven't I Heard from You" was released in April 1994; it was the first single from her album, "Read My Mind". The song reached number five on the Billboard Hot Country Singles and Tracks chart in July 1994.

It debuted at number 60 on the Hot Country Singles and Tracks for the week of April 9, 1994.
7. Finish the title: "Somebody Should _____"

Answer: Leave

"Somebody should leave but which one should it be"?

The song is a ballad describing a woman who finds herself in a loveless relationship with her husband. The female narrator realizes a divorce is needed but they are faced with a problem, as she sings in the song, "you need the kids and they need me." The song's chorus explains the storyline:
"Somebody should leave but which one should it be
You need the kids and they need me
Somebody should leave but we hate to give in
We keep hopin' somehow we might need each other again"
8. This song tells a story about a brother who takes the fall for his sister when she kills her brother's girlfriend because she slept around on him with the whole town, including the judge.

Answer: The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia

I get chill bumps when I listen to it or watch the video. It tells a great story.

This song was originally recorded by Vicki Lawrence, but her version did do as well on the charts. Reba and her producer were sitting down and she looked at her credenza and she picked up a cassette tape and she said "That's 'The Night the Lights Went out in Georgia'". She said "yeah let's do that". The song was a hit from there.
9. The girl's last name in this song is Baker.

Answer: Fancy

These are a couple of lyrics from the song.

"Here's your one chance Fancy don't let me down"

"To thine own self be true"

This is one of Reba's biggest and most successful hits, it tells a great story and has a great moral.

This song was originally recorded by Bobbie Gentry but she wasn't that popular with it.
10. In this song Reba talks about a "diner down on Broadway."

Answer: Somebody

She talks about the diner in the first line.

"At a diner down on Broadway they make small talk, where she brings his eggs and fills his coffee cup." This song was written by Dave Berg, Sam Tate and Annie Tate. This song was recorded by Mark Wills in 2001, but Reba took it and made a hit out of it in 2003 on her "Room to Breathe" album.
11. Reba sang a song called "9 to 5" when she performed live. Who originally sings "9 to 5"?

Answer: Dolly Parton

"9 to 5" was actually made into a great movie!
It starred Dolly Parton, Lily Tomlin, and Jane Fonda.

Reba featured many song covers on her "Reba Live" album; some of them were "Respect" by Aretha Franklin, "Mama Tried" by Merle Haggard, "Jolene" also by Dolly Parton and many more.
12. What song does Reba sing with Linda Davis, Martina McBride, and Trisha Yearwood?

Answer: On My Own

This song is one I just started listening to but it was released in 1995.
"On My Own" was a Billboard number one hit duet by singers Patti LaBelle and Michael McDonald. It was released as a single in 1986 from LaBelle's first platinum album, "Winner in You".
The song was originally recorded by singer Dionne Warwick.
13. Eight members of Reba's road band were killed in a plane accident near Otay Mountain and Reba dedicated an album to her late band members. What was the name of the album?

Answer: For My Broken Heart

This was very dramatic for Reba. She couldn't and wouldn't talk about it to anybody, especially on live TV, for a couple of years. She can now talk about it and it doesn't bother her as much as it used too. Reba says in the her notes that this album is "a form of healing for all our broken hearts".
14. What is the name of the theme song for Reba's TV show?

Answer: I'm A Survivor

Her show "Reba" lasted for eight years. The show starred Reba (of course), Melissa Peterman, Christopher Rich, Joanna Garcia, Steve Howey, Scarlett Pomers and Mitch Holleman. This show was always so funny especially the ongoing feud between Reba and Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman). Barbra Jean stole Reba's husband, Brock (Christopher Rich) and it was all down hill from there.
15. The video for this song has a boat that explodes at the end.

Answer: Does He Love You

Linda Davis' part in this song gives me chill bumps anytime somebody sings it.
This song is great and tells a good story like most of Reba's songs.

It tells a story about two best friends - one of them is married to a guy and the other is hooking up with same guy. Like the song says "you have his mornin's his daytimes and sometimes I have his nights".
(Linda Davis sings that line.)
