Answer: Jonas Salk

After working for years on finding the vaccine for polio, Salk became even more avid when his daughter came down with the disease. The last few years of his life, he worked on finding a cure for AIDS. Salk passed away in 1995 at the age of 80.
2. He was an American inventor who started the frozen food industry. Who was he?

Answer: Clarence Birdseye

Birdseye started out freezing seafood after an ice fishing trip. He discovered that even though the fish froze almost immediately, when cooked later, they still tasted fresh. In 1922, he started Birdseye Seafoods Inc. He developed a process called quick freezing, which maintained the taste of a fresh product.

In 1927 he extended the quick freezing process to meat, poultry, fruits and vegetables.

Answer: John Hinckley Jr.

On March 30, 1981, Hinckley shot at President Ronald Reagan six times. Reagan was wounded by a bullet that ricocheted and hit him in the chest. Thomas Delahanty, a police officer, James Brady, the White House Press Secretary and Timothy McCarthy, a Secret Service agent, were also all wounded in the assassination attempt.

Hinckley was found not guilty by reason of insanity and committed to a mental hospital. Hinckley was obsessed with actress Jodie Foster after seeing her in the movie "Taxi Driver". This was just one way of trying to get her attention. She was not impressed.

Magellan's expedition became the first to complete a circumnavigation of the world but Magellan himself did not finish the entire voyage. He was killed during the Battle of Mactan in the Philippines. Juan Elcano took over the expedition after Magellan's death.

Cleopatra was the ruler of Egypt along with her brothers/husbands. These unions with her brothers did not produce any children but she had a son with Caesar and three more children with Marc Antony after Caesar's death. Her reign marked the end of the Hellenistic Era and the start of the Roman Era. At the height of the Hellenistic Era, Greek Culture was very powerful in Europe and Asia.

Jemison was the first African-American female to travel into space. Jemison is now retired but as a doctor in the 1980's she was in the Peace Corps in Liberia and the Sierra Leone. Sally Ride was the first American woman in space in 1983. Christa McAuliffe died in the Space Shuttle Challenger tragedy in 1986. Dorothy Green is Mae Jemison's mother.

Answer: Sacagawea

Sacagawea was taken as the wife of Frenchman Toussaint Charbonneau at the age of 13. Charbonneau was hired by Lewis and Clark as an interpreter. Sacagawea spoke Shoshone and they needed her help in their travels. She was nicknamed Janey by Clark. She died in 1812 of an unknown illness.

Her full adoptive and legal name was Lydia Liliʻu Loloku Walania Wewehi Kamakaʻeha-a-Kapaʻakea Lydia Liliʻuokalani Paki. She died in 1917 at age 79. She was overthrown in 1893, ending her reign.
