Wheatley disliked the school intensely and was eventually expelled for running away.

'The Forbidden Territory', with the same group of characters as 'Three Inquisitive People', was written after that novel, but Wheatley's publishers felt that it would be a better seller and so released it first.

Answer: Duc de Richleau

The Duc de Richleau appeared in many Wheatley novels, including 'The Devil Rides Out', 'The Second Seal' and 'The Golden Spaniard'.

6. How did Wheatley earn his living before becoming a successful author?

Answer: Wine Merchant

Wheatley inherited a successful wine merchant's business from his father, based in Mayfair, London. The advent of the Great Depression made trade difficult, almost bankrupted Wheatley, and forced him into trying a new way to make money.

Answer: Lymington, Hampshire

Wheatley owned Grove Place in the town, and used it as a setting in his historical novels about the adventures of Roger Brook.
8. In the course of Wheatley's research into the occult, he met which famous Black Magician?

Wheatley was commissioned into the RAF so he could join this organisation, responsible for the higher direction of the war. He was particularly involved in deception planning and later wrote about his work in 'The Deception Planners : My Secret War'.
10. Which famous film, starring Christopher Lee and Charles Gray, was based on one of Wheatley's books?

Answer: The Devil Rides Out

Apparently Christopher Lee has said that he would like to see this remade using contemporary special effects and with him playing a more 'mature' Duc de Richelieu.
