2. Jayne Mansfield

Actress and 'sex symbol' Jayne Mansfield (1933-1967) was originally a Playboy Playmate before starring in films like "Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?" and "Promises, Promises". She was killed in a tragic automobile accident.

Mariska Hargitay was only 3½ when her mother died but she grew up to become a famous actress in her own right. She has starred in the TV crime drama "Law and Order: SVU" since the series' inception and became executive producer of the show.
