Answer: Victor Berger

He was convicted of protesting American involvement in World War I. After winning his seat back while waiting for an appeal, Congress attempted to ban him. Then another Congressmen made the statement "Are we a democracy or what? Gentlemen, give him his seat back!". By the way he was also the first socialist elected to Congress.

2. Who designed the first combat submarine?

Answer: David Bushnell

He called it the "Turtle" and also developed the first torpedo. It was employed during the American Revolution when it attacked the warship HMS Eagle but did no damage. After that is just disappeared with no mention of it's fate. However, replicas are on display.

When the bullet was finally found it was in a non threatening position. Garfield meanwhile developed an infection from the probing and died later.

The Philadelphia had been captured by the pirates. So they could not use the ship against American shipping, Decatur led a small force to destroy it. He also became a hero in the war of 1812. Almost every larger American town has a street named after him.
