However, nether of these two criminals ever truly held that title. Erzebet Bathory, a Hungarian Countess of the 1500s, is, in fact, the world's worst killer.

Called the "Blood Countess", Erzebet documented tormenting and killing over 650 girls and women. Many accounts state that the countess murdered the girls and bathed in or drank their blood, believing it would keep her skin youthful and healthy.

However, all that has been proved about Erzebet is that she was a terrible sadist who enjoyed torturing her victims. Erzebet was eventually caught when she turned to killing noblewomen.

She was imprisoned in her own castle, where she died in 1614.
