ERB was born Sep. 1, 1875 in Chicago and died March 19, 1950. His father was a Civil War Veteran.
2. What epidemic struck Chicago in 1891 forcing Burroughs to move to his brothers' cattle ranch in Idaho?

Answer: Influenza

Idaho at this time was still a rough place with thieves, murderers, bad men and even shootouts at the local saloon. His parents found this out and sent him to the Phillips Academy in Andover, MA.
3. Burroughs later attended the Michigan Military Academy, graduating in 1895. What did he do the following year?

Answer: Joined the U.S. Army

ERB was assigned to the Seventh United States Cavalry, General Custer's old regiment.
