Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This British-born lady named Lynn famously starred with her niece, Jemma and her sister, Vanessa, in the Anton Chekov play, "Three Sisters". She later again appeared with her sister Vanessa on the television production, "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?" What was the surname of these three actresses?

Answer: Redgrave

Lynn Redgrave was born into a family of actors and actresses.

Her parents were Sir Michael Redgrave and Lady Rachel Redgrave. Actors Corin Redgrave and Vanessa Redgrave were Lynn's brother and sister, respectively. She was the aunt of director Carlo Nero and actresses Joely Richardson and Jenna Redgrave, while her grandfather, Roy Redgrave had been a star during the silent movie era.

Lynn died of cancer in 2010.
2. "I Never Promised You A (Rose Garden)", a country/pop cross-over hit song that was released in 1970, had been written by Joe South, (Joseph Alfred Souter), but what country songstress popularized this tune?

Answer: Lynn Anderson

Lynn Anderson first appeared in the country music genre in 1967, and her album "Ride Ride Ride" peaked at the number 25 position on Billboard's Hot Country chart in March of that year. Lynn was 19 years old at that time.

Her first Top 10 hit was a cut from that album and was entitled "If I Kiss You (Will You Go Away?)"
3. Lynn Herring, (Sheryl Lynn Herring) is an actress known for her roles in what genre of television viewing in the U.S.?

Answer: Daytime soap operas

Actress Sheryl *Lynn* Herring is known for her roles in U.S. daytime soap operas. She first appeared on "General Hospital" in 1986 as a quiet librarian named Lucy Coe. The character "Lucy" eventually became much more assertive and glamorous, and began to make herself more available to the attentions of men.

Lynn's next role was on "Days Of Our Lives", although her character never was fully developed, so she asked to be released from her contract. The producers agreed, and she then returned yet once again to the set of "General Hospital".

Later, she played a role on "Port Charles", a spin-off of "General Hospital", in her role as Lucy Coe. The program suffered from weak ratings, and eventually she returned yet again to the cast of "General Hospital".

In 2009, she joined the cast of "As The World Turns" as the character Audrey Coleman, but yet once again, in 2012, she returned to the soap opera "General Hospital".
4. "Eve's Bayou", a 1997 movie about a young girl's coming of age in the Deep South, featured actress Lynn Whitfield with Samuel L. Jackson, Debbi Morgan, Jurnee Smollett and Meagan Good. In what southern U.S. state was the family portrayed as residing?

Answer: Louisiana

The Batiste family "lived" in Louisiana. Eve (played by actress Lynn Whitfield), was the daughter of a rather well-to-do black doctor. She and her older sister, Cisely (played by Meagan Good) have to deal with matters that would best be left to adults to deal with. The adults, specifically, their father, Louis (Samuel L. Jackson) does deal with those matters, but does so rather badly.

Lynn Whitfield is also known for her excellent acting abilities as demonstrated in the HBO movie, "The Josephine Baker Story" as well as her role in the darkly comedic film "A Thin Line Between Love and Hate" with Martin Lawrence.
5. What is the claim to fame of a lady named Lynn Margulis? Okay, so you want a hint. Fair enough! I'll give you TWO! Eukaryotes and Organelles. Now, let's figure this one out together ...

Answer: she was known for her work as an American biologist

Lynn Margulis was an American biologist. I wasn't kidding when I said "let's figure this one out together", because I have very little clue as to her work or what it even means!

Let's begin with the parts that I don't understand:

The word "eukaryotes" has something to do with an organism whose cells contain a nucleus along with other "organelles" that are enclosed within membranes.
"Organelles" are units within a cell that performs a specific function. The name comes from the same source as the word "organ", because an organelle acts within the cell as an organ acts in the human body.

Please! Don't ask me to explain further! I don't get it, either.
Maybe, though, if you have a degree in biology ...
6. This author of a novel in the science fantasy genre, "Daughter of the Bright Moon" began her publishing career in 1979. What this Lynn's surname? Useless clue: think "church".

Answer: Abbey

Lynn Abbey was born Marilyn Lorraine Abbey, and was a computer programmer prior to becoming an author. She has written several different series, as well as having edited several anthologies.
7. Lynn Johnson made quite a name for herself in her career. Can you tell me just exactly what it is that she does for a living that she enjoys immensely? Clue: think Rwanda, Women's health in China, Tiger Woods and Antarctica.

Answer: photography

Lynn Johnson, a renowned photographer, has traveled extensively around the globe, conducting photo shoots and photojournalism for "National Geographic", "Sports Illustrated" and "Life" magazines.

Her photos range from filming the most well-known to the most obscure people on the planet; from the easiest-to-film settings to some of the most remote, inaccessible locales.

She has photographed various aspects of human existence for over 35 years, and has reached the most "unreachable" places imaginable.

Her subtle, yet effective approach to her work has led to her status as a leader in the field of photography.
8. Lynn E. Hazen writes books for children and young adults. She has published such interesting titles as "Cinder Rabbit", "The Amazing Trail Of Seymour Snail", "Buzz Bumble To The Rescue" "Shifty" and "Mermaid Mary Margaret". Besides pursuing a career in writing, what other type work does she engage in?

Answer: teaches creative writing classes for children and youth

Children and young adult author, Lynn E. Hazen, teaches classes for those two groups of aspiring writers at UC Berkeley Extension and at Stanford Continuing Studies.
9. Ah, that wonderful world of high finance! Most of us don't have the opportunity or know-how to even entertain the idea of being more than moderately successful in such endeavors, but not THIS Lynn. What is the last name of this lady who occasionally appears in the U.S. on CNBC as a sort of "trade advisor"?

Answer: Tilton

Lynn Tilton is an American investor, trader and industrialist and CEO of a company that manages literally billions (yes, that begins with a "B") of dollars worth of assets!

She is also the chairman and CEO of a company that manufactures helicopters, as well as serving as acting CEO of another company that supplies automotive parts to other companies.

Whew! What a busy executive she must be!
10. Film and television actress/producer Lynn Loring began her acting career at what age, in 1951?

Answer: Seven

Lynn Loring, who played the role of Patti Barron, on the television soap opera "Search For Tomorrow", began acting at age 7. She continued on the program until she finished high school in 1961; then began pursuing other acting roles.

She later appeared on the comedy "Fair Exchange"; on the drama "Perry Mason", on T.V.'s "Daniel Boone" and on the Western series, "The Big Valley".
