Francis Bacon (1909-1992) was a famous British figurative painter. He is well-known for his portraits of Popes. The three other ones I made up.

Oscar Egg was a Swiss road and track cyclist from 1911 to 1926. He set the world hour record 3 times and won several stages in the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia. His last hour record was 44.247 km. The three others are non-existing.

Broccoli, tomato or asparagus aren't starchy.

This Hungarian and Austrian cake was invented in the 19th century and named after Paul III Anton, Prince Esterházy (1786-1866). This prince shares his name with a French traitor who caused the Dreyfus affair. The red herrings are other terms and persons related to this infamous affair: Zola wrote J'accuse in the journal L'aurore (1898).
