Answer: Matthew

In only the Gospel of Matthew is there an account of dead people coming back to life after the death of Jesus. The mindboggling details are found in Matthew 27:51-53.

Here's how the verses read in the NKJV: "Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many."

Details about the sky turning black, the curtain of the temple being torn in two as well as a centurion at the crucifixion scene proclaiming Jesus as the Son of God can be all found in Matthew as well as other Gospels.

Answer: Mark

The account of an unnamed blind man being healed by Jesus in two stages at Bethsaida is told in only the Gospel of Mark, as per Chapter 8, Verses 22 to 26. The passage tells of a blind man being taken to Jesus who took him by the hand and led him out of the town. Scripture states Jesus spit on the man's eyes and put His hand on him, asking him if he saw anything. Verse 24 quotes the man saying, "I see men like trees, walking."

Scripture goes on to tell of Jesus putting His hands on his eyes again and this time his sight was "restored and saw everyone clearly."

Answer: Luke

The parable of an unnamed rich man and Lazarus appears in only the Gospel of Luke, with the account appearing in chapter 16, verses 19-31. According to the parable, Lazarus lived outside the door of a rich man and he was so helpless the dogs would come to lick his sores.

Scripture tells of Lazarus and the rich man dying, with Lazarus ending up by the side of Abraham and the rich man in a place of torment. When the rich man requests that Lazarus come and dip the tip of his finger in water and cool his tongue, Abraham tells him this is not possible because there is a "great chasm" and no one can cross over it.

There is another Lazarus, of course, who is mentioned in the Gospels. He was the brother of Mary and Martha, and was raised from the dead at Bethany, as per John 11:1-44.

Answer: John

The statement by Jesus that He is "the way, the truth and the life" and "no one comes to the Father" except through Him is found in John 14:6. The statement by Jesus was made to the disciples after Thomas had questioned Him.

In the passage, Jesus tells the disciples that in His Father's house there are "many mansions" and that He is going to prepare a place for them, adding, "And where I go you know, and the way you know."

At this point, Thomas, one of the Twelve Disciples questioned Jesus, stating, "Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?"

Jesus responded to Thomas question by making His famous statement in John 14:6.

The statement by Jesus that "no one comes to the Father" except through Him, has caused considerable dissension over the centuries. Most evangelical Christians, for example, believe the statement is clear evidence one can only enter heaven if they go through Jesus.

Answer: Third John

Third John is the correct answer. The Epistle of Third John was addressed to a Christian man called Gaius. Little is known about Gaius, however. Many theologians believe he was likely a member of one of the churches in Asia Minor. Notes in the NKJV Study Bible suggest Gaius had the resources to show hospitality to itinerant preachers.

As mentioned in the question, the book consists of only fourteen verses, The epistle was written by John and tradition holds he was the same John who served as one of Jesus' Twelve Disciples. (Some modern day theologians dispute this belief.)

Answer: 1 Corinthians

Paul, the great apostle to the Gentiles, wrote 1 Corinthians, with the 13th chapter known as the Love Chapter. The chapter is one of my favorites and I am certain millions of people around the world feel the same way. Paul's writing in the chapter is impeccable. What must be stressed is that in the chapter, Paul states Christians should exhibit deep and sincere love to everyone, not just members of their family or close friends. Paul wrote the book of 1 Corinthians largely in response to divisions and the lack of orderly worship at the church in Corinth.

The chapter is often read at weddings and even at funerals. It all brings back memories of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair reading the passage at the Princess Diana's funeral in 1997.

Answer: Romans

Mention of Priscilla and Aquila "risking their own necks" for Paul is found in only Romans 16:3-5. Make no mistake about it, Priscilla was a dynamic person in the early church. Her husband Aquila is never mentioned without her, and often her name appears before her husband's name in the books the apostle Paul is credited with writing. And this at a time when women were regarded as grossly inferior and not even included in census figures!

In Romans 16:4, Paul writes Priscilla and Aquila "risked their own necks" for him and "all the churches of the Gentiles are grateful to them."

Answer: James

James is the correct answer, with James 3:1-12 warning about the dangers of an uncontrolled tongue. Verses 5 and 6 state, "Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell."

Meanwhile, Verse 4 likens the tongue to the rudder of a ship, stating, although ships are large, "they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires."

Answer: Revelation

A fiery red horse is mentioned in Revelation 6:4. The verse in question states, "Another horse, fiery red, went out. And it was granted to the one who sat on it to take peace from the earth, and that people should kill one another; and there was given to him a great sword."

Using the NKJV and the NIV, this is the only place in Scripture reference is made to a fiery red horse. (The KJV describes the horse simply as 'red' and does not use the word 'fiery'.)

Revelation, the last book of the Christian Bible, was written by John, while in exile on the island of Patmos in the Aegean Sea.

Answer: Acts

Ananias and Sapphira were struck dead after selling their property and withholding part of the money from going to the Lord's work, as per Acts 5:1-11.

According to Scripture, they were struck dead after they met separately with Peter and both claimed they had turned over the entire proceeds from the sale of their property. After they were struck dead, Scripture tells of "great fear" coming upon members of the early church.

The account of Ananias and Sapphira being struck dead is found in only the book of Acts.
