Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. On what day of creation were humans created?

Answer: Day Six

Many people think that the creation event given in Genesis chapter 1 occurred in 7 days (one week), yet, according to Genesis 1, God finished with mankind on the day 6 - not day 7. While this Bible truth is disputed by some, it is stated as a fact and a beginning of human history.
2. In keeping with the creation questions, which of the following was not created on the sixth day?

Answer: dolphins

Genesis 1:20-23 teaches that all sea creatures and birds were created on the fifth day. In Genesis 1:24-25 all land animals were created on the beginning of the sixth day. Even in the face of the old saying "Dog is man's best friend," one of the most poignant points of Genesis 1-2 is that nothing in creation was found to "complete" man so God gave man woman.
3. Which of the following physical events, which could have adversely changed human life, is not recorded in Genesis?

Answer: the impact of a meteor.

The book of Genesis records that life on Earth was dramatically changed by the following:
- the land being divided (Genesis 10:25 - some are in disagreement on whether this means the separation of a "Pangaea" type earth formation or the dividing of the people during the Babel incident).
- a flood of gigantic proportions (Genesis 7:19-20 states that the flood waters prevailed above the high hills and mountains and remained on the earth for the better part of a year - Genesis 7:11 - 2nd month 17th day to Genesis 8:13 - 1st month 1st day).
- Eve and Adam committing the first sin (Genesis 3:16-24 - the Lord caused different physical and spiritual consequences to occur including the removal of the Tree of Life).
4. According to Psalms 53:1, what has the fool said in his heart?

Answer: There is no God.

Psalm 53 is a Psalm of David that challenges atheism, even in ancient Israel. According to Psalm 53:2 God is looking to see if any understands who will then seek God. Since David was called "a man after God's own heart," his insight into faith and devotion is important.
5. According to Isaiah 14:1-27, Lucifer is a biblical name for whom?

Answer: King of Babylon

According to Isaiah 14:4 Isaiah is charged to take up a "proverb" against the king of Babylon. Many references point to the object of the teaching being an arrogant leader of an earthly country, most likely Babylon. It is not unreasonable to think that this prophecy is pointing to Nebuchadnezzar.
6. In Malachi 2:13-16 how had the people dealt treacherously?

Answer: they had divorced the wives of their youth

In Malachi 2:16 the prophet proclaims that God hates divorce. The practice of divorcing a spouse was (is) a sin when done treacherously. Jesus expounds on this teaching in the gospel of Matthew chapters 5 and 19 with definitive statements deploring the practice of divorce for any reason other than adultery.
7. Which of these modifiers was not used by God to describe Abraham's heritage?

Answer: millions

God promised Abram a "great nation" in Genesis 12:2 and in Genesis 22:17 God uses sand and stars to illustrate His promise. Paul later expands the vision of Abraham's seed to include not only ancient physical Israel, but the New Testament believers (Romans 9-11) as well.
8. Isaiah uses all these descriptions except one for the Messiah in Isaiah 9:6, which one?

Answer: Root of Jesse

Isaiah 11:10 refers to the Messiah (see also Romans 15:12) as the "root of Jesse"; the others are from Isaiah 9:6. Christians see the "root of Jesse" as a reference to Jesus being from David's lineage - Jesse was David's father. But the phrase is not present in Isaiah 9:6.
9. According to Genesis 7 and Leviticus 11, how many camels did Noah take on the ark?

Answer: 2

Genesis specifies clean and unclean animals for the first time in the account of Noah. In Leviticus 11:4 a camel was not considered a clean animal. Some commentators think that instead of 7 clean animals, 7 pairs, or 14, clean animals were taken into the ark!
10. Who does God say is to come in Malachi 4:5?

Answer: Elijah

While the New Testament says that the fulfillment of this promise (prophesy) is John the Baptizer (Matthew 17:11-13), the scripture in Malachi says that Elijah will be sent. Jesus used the question of who sent John to confound the religious leaders of His day.
