A tree planted by water has, of course, a constant supply of water and will therefore not dry up or wither or die. The person who trusts in the Lord is someone who constantly looks to God as their source of life. The passage says that they therefore will be able to stand strong no matter what happens around them.

The full quote is: "But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit."

Readers are told in James 4:7 to resist the devil. First, however, one must meet the criteria presented. The start is to absolutely submit to God. Without this, James says, ordinary people do not have the power to overcome the devil's temptations nor his purposes.
Only a foolhardy person would dare to rebuke the devil, since his power is much greater than theirs, even though it is much less than God's.
Even Michael, one of the archangels of heaven, did not dare rebuke him, but instead (in Jude verse 9) said, "The Lord rebuke thee."
The admonition here is to submit to God, THEN to resist the devil.

2 Kings 2:11 states, "And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and ELIJAH went up by a whirlwind into heaven."
(This is a part of the account of Elijah and Elisha as they took their last walk together.)
Most Christians interpret these two accounts to mean that neither Enoch nor Elijah experienced death as we know it.
