Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the name of the first man, according to the Bible?

Answer: Adam

Adam was the first man. Genesis 1 states he was created by God on the sixth day of creation. According to Genesis 2:18-20, Adam was given the responsibility of naming all the cattle, birds of the air and beasts of the field. Shortly after this, Scripture states God created a wife for Adam. Notes in the NKJV Study Bible state Adam simply means 'man'.

Incidentally, Mephibosheth, Methushael and Zelophehad are characters whose names also appear in the Old Testament.
2. What was the name of the first woman, according to the Bible?

Answer: Eve

The first woman was Eve. Genesis 2:22 states God took a rib from Adam while he was in a deep sleep and created a woman to be his companion. Genesis 3:20 states Adam called the woman Eve because she would become the mother of all the living. Notes in the NKJV Study Bible state Eve means 'life' or 'living'.
3. What is the title of the first book in the Bible?

Answer: Genesis

Genesis is the first book in the Old Testament of the Christian Bible as well as the Hebrew Bible. The book provides accounts of some well known stories, including a massive flood that engulfed the world, Lot's wife being turned into a pillar of salt, and Joseph being sold into slavery and then being imprisoned on false charges of attempted rape.

Aeosmith, Metallica and Motorhead, of course, are the names of rock bands, similar to the English rock back known as Genesis.
4. According to the Bible, who built an ark to take refuge in when a gigantic flood engulfed the world?

Answer: Noah

Noah and his family survived a massive flood that engulfed the world by taking refuge in a gigantic ark they had made. Scripture states the ark also accommodated a male and a female of every kind of animal and bird of the air. God brought about the flood due to the severe wickedness of the people with Noah and his family being the only just ones.

The flood was caused when it rained continuously for forty days and forty nights.
5. According to the Bible, what shepherd boy killed Goliath with a slingshot?

Answer: David

David was the young shepherd boy who killed Goliath with a stone fired from a slingshot. Scripture states Goliath was a Philistine behemoth who was terrorizing the Israelites when the two sides were facing each other in battle. Goliath scoffed when the Israelites sent out David to challenge him but moments later the giant would be breathing his last breath.

After this incident, David became a national hero and ended up becoming king of Israel.
6. What was the name of the mother of Jesus?

Answer: Mary

Mary gave birth to Jesus even though she had not been intimate with a man. Luke 1:26-38 tells of the angel Gabriel appearing before Mary and informing her, "the Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you, and the Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God."

After the angel's visit, Mary would become the wife of Joseph.
7. Did Jesus raise people from the dead?

Answer: Yes

Yes, He certainly did raise people from the dead. In fact, the New Testament tells of Jesus raising three people from the dead -- the daughter of Jairus, the son of a widow at Nain and Lazarus. Some people, believe, however, Jesus raised more than three people from the dead, it's just that the incidents were not documented in Scripture. John 21:25, for example, states in the NKJV: "And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written."
8. What substance did Jesus turn into wine?

Answer: water

John 2:1-12 tells of Jesus turning water into wine at a wedding feast in Cana. Scripture states Jesus performed the miracle after the hosts of the wedding ran out of wine. According to John 2:11, this was the first miracle performed by Jesus.
9. What is the title of the first book in the New Testament?

Answer: Matthew

The first book in the New Testament is the Gospel of Matthew. The book was written by Matthew, a tax collector who was one of the original Twelve Disciples. In some places in the New Testament the disciple Matthew is known as Levi.
10. Who was crucified on a cross and then triumphantly rose from the dead three days later?

Answer: Jesus Christ

Without any fear of contradiction, the answer to the question is Jesus Christ. The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John all provide an account of Jesus being crucified and then triumphantly rising from the dead three days later -- just like He said He would.

After the crucifixion and before His ascension to heaven, Jesus made a number of appearance to people. In fact, 1 Corinthians 15:6 states that after His resurrection, Christ was seen by more than five hundred people at once.
