Delilah was a girlfiend of Judge Samson. The Philistines, who bore no great affection for Samson after he had played cruel tricks on them, used Delilah to find out the source of Samson's seemingly superhuman strength. Judges 16.

Elijah had a showdown on Mount Carmel with the priests of Baal to demonstrate who was the true, living god. All day Baal's priests cried, pleaded, leaped about and cut themselves in an attempt to make Baal's presence manifest itself, to no avail. However, Elijah spoke but a few words and fire came from the sky and consumed his drenched offering (1 Kings 18: 21-38).

Joshua was defending Gibeon against attack by five kings. He was winning the battle as the day waned. Fearing the enemy would use darkness to escape, Joshua prayed for the sun to stand still so he could continue the rout (Joshua 10:12-13).

In a heated battle with the Philistines, the Israelites were defeated and fled to Mount Gilboa where Saul's sons were slain. Saul was also badly wounded. To keep himself from falling alive into the Philistine's cruel hands, he fell on his sword and killed himself when his armor bearer refused to do it (1 Samuel 31:1-4).

This prophet foretold bad days for the enemies of Israel but abundance for the Israelites, symbolized by the flowing liquids (Joel 3:18-19). Shittim Valley was about 10 miles northeast of the Dead Sea.

Deborah told General Barak to muster his troops at Mount Tabor and God would make him victorious in battle against the Canaanite general, Sisera. When Sisera saw he was losing the battle, he fled and was met by a woman, Jael, who invited him to her tent to eat and rest.

However, after Sisera fell asleep, Jael killed him by pounding a tent peg into his head (Judges 4:5-7, 18-21). Biblical scholars also consider Mount Tabor as the site of Jesus' Transfiguration.
