In full, Matthew 5:3 reads, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
The Beatitudes were given by Jesus as part of the Sermon on the Mount. Matthew 5:3-12 and Luke 6:20-22 both give accounts of the Beatitudes.

Answer: Moses and Elijah

Matthey 17:1-2 describes it this way: "There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus."
The Transfiguration happened shortly before Passover. Jesus was crucified a few weeks after the Transfiguration, days before Passover.

In Matthew 17, Matthew tells us that there were six people present visibly and/or physically: Peter, James, John, Jesus, Moses, and Elijah.

Matthew 2:13 tells the story: "When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. 'Get up,' he said, 'take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.'"

When Herod heard that a "King of the Jews" was to be born, this made him angry. Any opposition to his power was something he would want stopped. And although Jesus was not opposing Herod politically, Herod saw it that way. So Herod ordered all the baby boys in and around Bethlehem who were under two years of age to be killed, expecting that Jesus would be among them.

As soon as John the Baptist baptized Jesus, Jesus came up out of the water. Then a Dove ("the Spirit of God") descended from heaven, and then the Lord's voice said: "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased." Matthew 3:16-17 describes the scene.

When Satan was tempting Jesus, he tempted him to turn rocks into bread. Jesus replied with: "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" (Matthew 4:4)

One understanding of this verse is that Jesus is eternal and uncreated, existing before the world began, and that he is one with the Father, yet a separate person.

John 18:10 gives the answer: "Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest's servant, cutting off his right ear. (The servant's name was Malchus.)"
After Peter cut off the servant's ear, Jesus chastised Peter by telling him "Those who draw the sword die by the sword." Then Jesus proceeded to heal the servant's ear.

Matthew 27:45, 51-53 describes what happened: "From the sixth hour until the ninth hour darkness came over all the land ... At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus' resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people."
Also, there was an earthquake.
When the Centurion who was guarding Jesus saw these things happen, he said: "Surely he was the Son of God."

Both the Gospel of Luke and the book of Acts start out with a similar greeting. Both of the books are written to an acquaintance named Theophilus. In Acts, the author identifies the Gospel of Luke as "my former book".
