Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What two cities are mentioned in verse 1:10 (KJV)?

Answer: Sodom and Gomorrah

Isaiah 1:10 "Hear the word of the Lord, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah."

We get the word sodomy from the city of Sodom.
2. Whose birth is prophesied in chapter 7 according to Christians?

Answer: Jesus

Chapter 7 discusses how the a child will be born and will resist evil to help the people of the world. The child was to be named Immanuel, which both Christians and Jews agree upon. However, only the Christians believed that Immanuel was Jesus.
3. In Isaiah 9:6 he uses many names to describe the Savior. Which is not one mentioned in that verse?

Answer: King of Kings

Isaiah 9:6 "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."

Isaiah does not use the name "King of Kings" at all. The first time it is used in reference to a Messiah is I Timothy 6:15.
4. What will happen to the water in Nimrim according to Isaiah 15:6 (KJV)?

Answer: It will become desolate.

Isaiah 15:6 "For the waters of Nimrim shall be desolate: for the hay is withered away, the grass faileth, there is no green thing."

Nimrim is located on the southeast border of the Dead Sea. (http://www.christnotes.org/dictionary.php?dict=sbd&id=3202).
5. What does Isaiah 35:6 (KJV) say the lame will do?

Answer: leap

Isaiah 35:6 "Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert."

I wasn't sure myself what "an hart" was so I looked it up on dictionary.com. An hart is a male deer, especially the red deer.
6. Who does the king in Isaiah 36:18 warn the people not to be persuaded by?

Answer: Hezekiah

Isaiah 36:18 "Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, the LORD will deliver us. Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?"

Hezekiah's name means "God has strengthened."
7. Who is Isaiah's father?

Answer: Amoz

Isaiah 37:21 "Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent unto Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Whereas thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria."

Amoz is Hebrew for "strong".
8. What does Isaiah 40:3 say to prepare?

Answer: The way of the Lord

Isaiah 40:3 "The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God."

This is another verse that, according to Christians, prophesies the coming of Jesus Christ.
9. What animal are humans compared to in Isaiah 53:6?

Answer: sheep

Isaiah 53:6 "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all."

Sheep out in the field have a tendency to wander and need to be led back to their fold.
10. What is the last word in the book of Isaiah (KJV)?

Answer: flesh

Isaiah 66:24 "And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh."

I hope you enjoyed this quiz. The next quiz shall be questions based on the book of Jeremiah.
