(In the NIV, the original name of Barnabas is given as Joseph.)

Nathanael, one of the original Twelve Disciples who was also known as Bartholomew, is the correct answer. He is known as Nathanael in the Gospel of John, but as Bartholomew in Matthew, Mark, Luke and Acts.

In John 1:49, Nathanael was the first disciple to proclaim Jesus as the Son of God.
4. L-Z-RUS One letter is missing for this New Testament character from the KJV and NKJV. Place the full name in the blank below.

Answer: Lazarus

Lazarus, the brother of Mary and Martha, was raised from the dead by Jesus at Bethany. This even though Lazarus had been dead for four days and, according to John 11:39 in the NKJV, Martha expressed concern about the stone being rolled away from his tomb because "by this time there is a stench."

After Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, Scripture tells of the Pharisees plotting to kill Him.

For complete details, see John 11.
5. M-RTH- One letter is missing for this New Testament character from the KJV and NKJV. Place the full name in the blank below.

Answer: Martha

Martha was the sister of Mary and Lazarus. According to Scripture, Martha and Mary were opposites. While Martha was often caught up in the hurly burly of the moment, Mary was insightful and took the time to listen to Christ's teachings.
A prime example of this can be found in Luke 10:38-42.

Martha, Mary and Lazarus all lived in Bethany, a small community just outside Jerusalem in Biblical times.
6. JUDA- One letter is missing for this New Testament character from the KJV and NKJV. Place the full name in the blank below.

Answer: Judas

The letter 'S' is missing in the name of Judas, one of the original Twelve Disciples. Judas, of course, was the notorious disciple who betrayed Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. According to John 12:4, Judas' father was Simon.

Whenever a list of names of disciples appears in the New Testament, Judas is last.
7. ZA--HAEUS One letter is missing for this New Testament character from the KJV and NKJV. Place the full name in the blank below.

Answer: Zacchaeus

The name Zacchaeus has the letter 'C' missing. Zacchaeus was the diminutive chief tax collector of Jericho who climbed a sycamore tree to get a better look at Jesus when He visited the community. The interaction between Jesus and Zacchaeus is documented in Luke 19:1-10.
8. HERO- One letter is missing for this New Testament character from the KJV and NKJV. Place the full name in the blank below.

Answer: Herod

Herod is the correct answer. He was the Roman governor Jesus appeared before after His arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane. According to Matthew 27:19, Herod's wife had a dream and she urged her husband to let Jesus go free. The verse in the NKJV quotes her as saying, "Have nothing to do with that just Man, for I have suffered many things today in a dream because of Him."

It was all in vain, of course, as Jesus would be turned over to the Romans to be crucified with two common criminals. However, all four Gospels tell of Jesus triumphantly rising from the dead three days later.
9. ONE-IMU- One letter is missing for this New Testament character from the KJV and NKJV. Place the full name in the blank below.

Answer: Onesimus

Onesimus is the correct answer. Onesimus was a slave who ran away from his master Philemon. After meeting up with Paul in Rome, Onesimus became a follower of Christ. In the Book of Philemon, Paul urges Philemon to accept Onesimus back into his household as an equal in Christ.
10. -ILA- One letter is missing for this New Testament character from the KJV and NKJV. Place the full name in the blank below.

Answer: Silas

The letter 'S' is missing from Silas' name. Silas was a worker in the early church who labored alongside Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles. One of the more interesting Bible stories involving Silas is the account in Acts 16:16-34. The passage tells of Silas and Paul being stripped by a mob and beaten with rods and then put in stocks in a prison cell.

Despite all this, Verse 25 states Silas and Paul were praying and singing hymns to God at midnight.
