Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water...

Answer: Luke

John the Baptist was Jesus' cousin and the one who baptized Him in the River Jordan. Many Christians believe the man John was referring to was Jesus.
2. That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man.

Answer: Ephesians

Ephesians is one of Paul's prison epistles (along with Philippians, Colossians, and Philemon). In Chapter three of Ephesians, Paul talks about Gentiles being adopted into the family of God along with the Jewish people.
3. Then Eli called Samuel and said, Samuel, my son. And he answered, Here am I.

Answer: First Samuel

Samuel was Hannah's son, who she dedicated to the Lord. Eli, the priest, took care of him and trained him. When Samuel was a boy, he heard a voice calling him and thought it was Eli, so he got out of bed and told Eli, "Here am I." However, it wasn't Eli calling him; it was God.
4. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

Answer: Second Timothy

Timothy was a young man Paul took under his wings. He was preparing for life in the ministry, and Paul had written these letters to encourage him in the faith. In this verse, Paul explains to Timothy why the Scriptures were written. When Paul refers to the Scriptures, he is not speaking of the entire Bible, but the Torah (Old Testament), since the New Testament wasn't written yet.
5. So then, because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Answer: Revelation

This chapter and the one before it are the letters to the seven churches. This letter is the letter to the church at Laodicean. This letter goes from Revelation 3:14-22.
6. Unto the woman He said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception...

Answer: Genesis

This verse is after Adam and Eve ate the fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Adam was told he would have to work the fields, which would be hard now because the ground would be cursed. God also kicked them out of the Garden of Eden and let them know they would eventually die.
7. Hereby perceive we the love of God, because He laid down His life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

Answer: First John

First, Second and Third John are believed by many scholars to have been written by John the Apostle. First John is the longest of these epistles. In this chapter, John talks about not being deceived because not everyone loves as the reader may. After all, you can't love others and not love God, nor can you love God but not love others.
8. Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God, dwelleth in you?

Answer: First Corinthians

This verse is used by many to say people should not have tattoos, smoke, do drugs, drink or overeat. Paul wrote First Corinthians to a church in Corinth (per 1.1). He later wrote them again in Second Corinthians. He may have written them more than these two times, but all we have is the First and Second Corinthians.
9. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.

Answer: Daniel

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were friends of Daniel. King Nebuchadnezzar set up an idol statue for everyone to bow down and worship. However, these three refused to do it. The king tells them either bow down or be tossed into the fiery furnace. In this verse and the few that follow, they explain to him they will not bow down, and their God will take care of them.
10. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another...

Answer: Colossians

This verse is two verses before Paul goes into how husbands should treat wives, wives should treat husbands, children should treat parents, and parents should treat children. But in this section, he talks about generalized living for all Christians.
