Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Psalm 91:2 (KJV) the Psalmist refers to the Lord as his refuge and his what?

Answer: fortress

Psalm 91:2 "I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust."

A fortress is a very secure place. So David is telling us that the Lord will always protect us.
2. What does Psalm 94:11 (KJV) tell us the Lord knows?

Answer: the thoughts of man

Psalm 94:11 "The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity."

Many people may seem very good on the outside, as if they never do anything wrong. However, that doesn't matter when it comes to God because he always knows what is on our hearts.
3. What does Psalm 96:1 (KJV) tell readers to do?

Answer: sing unto the Lord

Psalm 96:1 (KJV) "Sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD, all the earth."

David was always worshipping God. In fact, this particular verse is one of the songs Christians sing today.
4. According to Psalm 97:10 (KJV) what should you hate if you love the Lord?

Answer: evil

Psalm 97:10 "Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked."

God hates evil because he is so good and we are commanded to hate evil so that we will be more like God.
5. Psalm 99:6 (KJV) mentions three men. Two of them are Moses and Aaron. Who is the third man?

Answer: Samuel

Psalm 99:6 "Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among them that call upon his name; they called upon the LORD, and he answered them."

Samuel is the son of Hannah. His name means "name of God". He was a great leader, judge and prophet. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuel
6. What does Psalm 100:5 (KJV) tell us "endureth to all generations"?

Answer: his truth

Psalm 100:5 "For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations."

God is truth, so just as he knows no evil, he also knows no lies.
7. In Psalm 101:1 (KJV) what does David say he will sing of?

Answer: mercy and judgement

Psalm 101:1 "I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O LORD, will I sing."

Mercy and judgment are important issues througout the Bible. Because we are all sinners we must face judgement (facing up to God for the sins we committed, much like a criminal faces a judge here on Earth for crimes he commits). However, because of God's mercy (giving us something for free that we don't deserve) we can be saved if we believe in his Son, Jesus Christ.
8. What is the Lord slow to do according to Psalm 103:8 (KJV)?

Answer: anger

Psalm 103:8 "The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy."

Anger is considered one of the seven deadly sins because anger is one of those emotions that can cause people to do things that could destroy a person, including murder. There is a saying that says "Anger is one letter short of danger."
9. What does Psalm 104:15 (KJV) tell us strengthen's a man's heart?

Answer: bread

Psalm 104:15 "And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart."

Bread (both levened and unlevened) were very important in Bibical times and is often used as a reference.
10. Who does Psalm 106:30 (KJV) say "executed judgement"?

Answer: Phinehas

Psalm 106:30 "Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed."

There are two Phinehases mentioned in the Bible. Most likely from this verse, the one referred to here is the grandson of Aaron.

The other Phinehas is the son of Eli who is mentioned in I Samuel.
