Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who asked God this question: "What shall I do with this people? They are almost ready to stone me!"

Answer: Moses

Moses is the correct answer, as per Exodus 17:3-4. Moses at the time was leading the Israelites on a forty-year-long journey out of Egypt to Canaan, known as the Promised Land. At times his leadership was questioned by the people. In fact, things were so bad Moses was fearful of being stoned by the people who were complaining of thirst.

In response to Moses' question, God told him to strike a rock in Horeb "and water will come out of it, that the people may drink."
2. Who asked God this question: "Am I my brother's keeper?"

Answer: Cain

The question 'Am I my brother's keeper?' was asked of God by Cain, as per Genesis 4:9. According to Scripture, Cain asked the question after he had killed his younger brother Abel and God had asked him about Abel's whereabouts.

Cain professed not to know where Abel was and according to Scripture became the first person to ask God a question.

Scripture goes on to tell of God hearing Abel's blood crying out from the ground and Cain being sent into exile in the land of Nod.
3. Who asked God this question: "Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer You?"

Answer: Job

Job is the correct answer as per Job 40:4. The question was asked by Job during an extended conversation he had with God. The conversation comprises a major part of the book of Job. (See Chapters 38 to 40.)

Job, of course, is symbolic of suffering through trials and tribulations, but remaining faithful to God.

Meanwhile, many Christians believe the statement by Job in Chapter 19, Verse 25, is a direct reference to Jesus Christ: "For I know that my Redeemer lives,
and He shall stand at last on the earth."
4. Who asked God this question: "For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?"

Answer: Solomon

Solomon asked the question of God, as per 1 Kings 3:9. The chapter tells of God appearing to Solomon in a dream at night and asking him, "What shall I give you?"

In his response, Solomon is quoted as saying: "Give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?"

Scripture goes on tell of the LORD being pleased with Solomon's response. As a result, He blessed Solomon with an exceptional "wise and understanding heart" and two things he did not ask for: riches and honor.
5. Who asked God this question: "Why is my pain perpetual and my wound incurable which refuses to be healed?"

Answer: Jeremiah

Jeremiah, known as the weeping prophet, asked the question of God, as per Jeremiah 15:18. The question was asked after Jeremiah told God of his dejection.

Jeremiah, the son of Hilkiah, is one of the major prophets in the Old Testament. Other major prophets were Isaiah, Ezekiel and Daniel.
6. Who asked God these questions: "Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?"

Answer: David

David asked the questions of God after the Amalekites staged a surprise raid on the area around Ziklag, burning the city and taking a large number of women and children as captives. Also taken captive were two of David's wives, Ahinoam and Abigail.

After asking his questions of God, David received divine instructions to, "Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all."

Scripture goes on to tell of David scoring a spectacular victory over the Amalekites and liberating all the captives.

See 1 Samuel 30:1-31 for details.
7. Who asked God this question: "Why has this come to pass in Israel, that today there should be one tribe missing in Israel?"

Answer: The Israelites in general

The Israelites in general asked the question of God as per Judges 21:1-3. The question was asked after Israel was involved in a bitter civil war in which the tribe of Benjamin was pitted against the eleven other tribes. As to be expected, the tribe of Benjamin suffered enormous losses with only a handful of men surviving.

Scripture goes on to tell of the Israelites capturing a number of women from Jabesh Gilead and taking them to the Benjaminites to serve as their wives.
8. Who asked God this question: "Why do You show me iniquity and cause me to see trouble?"

Answer: Habakkuk

Habakkuk is the correct answer as per Habakkuk 1:3. The book of Habakkuk begins with the first four verses telling of the prophet of God questioning the LORD. God's response is recounted in Verses 5 to 11 while Verses 12 to 17 tell of more questions asked by Habakkuk.

The book of Habakkuk is part of the Minor Prophet section of the Christian Bible and the Twelve Prophet section of the Hebrew Bible. The book consists of three chapters.
9. Who asked God this question: "Suppose there were fifty righteous within the city; would You also destroy the place and not spare it for the fifty righteous that were in it?"

Answer: Abraham

Abraham asked the question of God while he interceded for Sodom, a community known for its wickedness. The question was asked before the community suffered highly punishing divine retribution.

As part of his conversation with God, Abraham asked if He would spare the city if fifty righteous people could be found. When God said He would spare it for fifty righteous people, Abraham asked if He would spare it for forty-five righteous people.

When God said He would spare it for forty-five righteous people, Abraham asked if he would spare it for forty righteous people. The story goes on with Abraham asking God if he would spare it for thirty righteous people, and then twenty righteous people and finally ten righteous people.

See Genesis 18:16-33 for details.
10. Who asked God this question: "Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they say to me, 'What is His name?' what shall I say to them?"

Answer: Moses

The question was asked of God by Moses, as per Exodus 3:13. He posed the question after God appeared before him in the form of a burning bush in Midian and announced he was to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and into Canaan, known as the Promised Land.

Moses, however, was fearful the Israelites would not believe he was their divinely appointed leader and basically asked God what was His name.

Exodus 3:14 contains God's reply: "I AM WHO I AM. Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.'"
