Answer: The Red Cross

It is officially known as the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (Red Crescent is used in place of the cross for Islamic countries). As of 2002, they operate in over 175 countries worldwide. in Israel, the Red Cross becomes the Magen David Adom, or Red Star of David. In Canada, donations are dealt with by the Canadian Blood Services.
2. Do you have to know your blood type to donate?

Answer: No

On your first donation, your blood type will be found.
3. True or False? If all safety precautions are taken, you cannot contract HIV or AIDS from donating blood.

Answer: True

The use of a new, sterile needle means that no-one else's blood will have come into contact with yours.

Answer: O-

In Tasmania, you have to be 18 years old. You also have to be under the age of 70.

Answer: There is no upper limit

Of course, the donor has to be in good health. You also have to be 17 years or older in the USA.

Answer: Every 10-12 weeks

Answer: No

Blood is best kept at 2 to 8 degrees Celsius (35 to 46 degrees Fahrenheit). It keeps for around 6 weeks.
