Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Windows XP or Windows 7, what does "Ctrl+Esc" do if I am at the desktop?

Answer: Shows the Start Menu

Although it is possible to shut down the computer or log off from the Start Menu, this command does not directly perform those actions.
2. In most Microsoft programs, what does "Alt+F4" do?

Answer: Ends the program

This is often used as a prank on ignorant computer users. For example, if a player on an online game sees another character flying, they might say, "How do you do that?" The flyer would say, "Press 'Alt+F4', thus ending the unsuspecting player's game and irritating him/her.
3. In most Microsoft programs, "F1" does what?

Answer: Shows help

This is used in almost every Microsoft program I can think of. This is probably because it is easy to remember for new computer users.
4. I press "Ctrl+C." Will I copy a selected section of text or other object?

Answer: Yes

This command is commonly learned in typing courses. This is because in many documents and the like, you may need to repeat sentences or even paragraphs.
5. I press "Ctrl+P" in Microsoft "Word". What happens?

Answer: I print something

This is another keyboard command that is commonly learned in typing courses. It makes it much easier to print what you have typed.
6. In Windows, I press "Ctrl+X." What happens?

Answer: I cut a selected object which is then placed on the clipboard

...as opposed to copying it. This is useful when moving text.
7. If I press the key with the Windows logo on it, Windows 7 will do what?

Answer: Show the Start Menu

Sound familiar? Of course! It does the same thing as the first question's command, "Ctrl+Esc!" It seems a bit redundant, no?
8. "Ctrl+Y" does what in Microsoft's "Word" and "Paint"?

Answer: Redo

This is helpful if you undo something you didn't mean to. For example, if you undo many things in a row, you may undo one too many times and need to redo something.
9. In "Word", "Alt+Shift+D" does what?

Answer: Automatically inserts the date

A handy tool if you need to date papers.
10. What key do you press 5 times to turn StickyKeys on or off?

Answer: Shift

This also makes a cool beep sound.
