Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Alt+Tab" does what?

Answer: Switches between open programs

This little command is very useful when there are a bunch of windows open. The "Windows Logo Key+Tab" will scroll through windows in a more visually appealing way on Windows Vista.
2. What does "Ctrl+Esc" do?

Answer: Opens the "Start" Menu

This is strange considering you could just press the Windows Logo Key and do exactly the same thing. I guess this one is for people who prefer the slow route.
3. "Ctrl+I" will make text what?

Answer: Italic

This is useful for typing titles, etc. It also adds emphasis. Some fonts lack an italic version.
4. To instantly go to the bottom of a webpage or other program that scrolls, what should I push?

Answer: "End"

This is useful when editing long quizzes! In contrast, pressing "Home" will take you instantly to the top. In addition, if you are editing text, pressing "End" will take you to the end of the current line. Pressing "Ctrl+End" will take you to the end of the entire written work.
5. "Ctrl+Alt+Del" doesn't go directly to the Task Manager on all computers.

Answer: True

Sometimes it gives you the option to start the Task Manager, Log Off, Switch User, etc. More often than not, however; the default settings lead you to the Task Manager immediately. It is quite helpful when dealing with programs that aren't responding.
6. What key combination will make text underlined?

Answer: "Ctrl+U"

Another helpful tool when text editing. It can be used when typing titles, to add emphasis. It is quite often used with bold, italic, or both when adding emphasis to ensure that one sees important words or lines.
7. When a desktop icon or other item is selected, pressing "Shift+Del" does what?

Answer: Deletes said object without storing it in the Recycle Bin

This is somewhat more convenient than right clicking an object then selecting "delete" or "send to recycle bin." It allows you to skip the entire Recycle Bin step if you are quite sure you want to delete it.
8. I've made a large error while typing a document! How can I quickly undo it?

Answer: "Ctrl+Z"

This is useful for pranks and correcting large or consecutive errors. If a friend or family member who is typing an important document leaves the computer for a moment, proceed to hold down "Ctrl+Z" until as much text as possible is gone (make sure to save first just in case).

When they begin to freak out, casually insinuate that you may have a solution. Act like you're doing something elaborate and then hold "Ctrl+Y" down for a while, which is redo. Watch their expression as, bit by bit, their document begins to reappear! This is a cruel joke, but it is worth it, especially to teach someone who doesn't save often a lesson.
9. Pressing the "Prnt Scrn" button does what?

Answer: Saves a "screenshot" of what's currently on the screen to the clipboard

Not really a keyboard command, but it is still useful. To view the screenshot, simply paste it somewhere before copying anything else (because it is on the clipboard). This can be useful for promoting computer products or websites. Simply put the picture somewhere in the midst of the text advertisement to add a visual of what your product or webpage is all about!
10. All keyboard command functions can be performed with mouse clicks. (To reduce confusion, this refers to once you are already logged in.)

Answer: True

This is true, but keyboard commands were made for efficiency.
