Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. As well as scoring prolifically for Red Bull Salzburg, striker Erling Braut Haaland scored 9 goals in Norway's 12-0 win v Honduras at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in May 2019. He also was the first teenager to score in five consecutive matches in the European Champions League, achieved during 2019-20 competition. Where was Erling born on 21 July 2000?

Answer: Leeds, England

The 19 year old scoring sensation Haaland moved from England to Bryne in Norway at the age of three. He is the son of a former Nottingham Forest, Leeds United and Manchester City player Alf-Inge Haaland. His proud dad scored 36 goals in 293 appearances in his career.

His son scored 47 goals in his first 73 appearances for Molde from the Norwegian Eliteserien and for Red Bull Salzburg who play in the Austrian Bundesliga.
2. Counting only officially sanctioned games which of these four players scored the most goals during his career?

Answer: Josef Bican, Austria

Josef Bican, 1931-1955, was an Austrian, who scored a total of 805 goals, which could well be more as the records from some of his 1952 season's games have been lost.

Geoff Hurst the West Ham striker scored three for England against West Germany in the 1966 Final at Wembley Stadium. With only 52 hat-tricks ever have been scored in over 800 matches in the 21 tournaments of the World Cup it is quite a rare event.

This is also the longest hat-trick to be completed - most time between the first and third goals. His first goal came at 10 minutes, while the second goals were in extra time at 98 and 120 minutes. "They think it's all over, it is now", was the famous commentary as Hurst smashed in his third in the last minute. The game ball, traditionally given to a hat-trick scorer, was stolen by Uwe Seeler before poor Geoff could get his hands on it!!
