2. Rushed for 2,053 yards in his penultimate season.

Answer: Barry Sanders

Sanders was less than 1,500 yards away from becoming the NFL's all-time leading rusher when he chose to retire just before the start of the 1999 NFL season. He rushed for 2,053 yards in 1997 while winning the NFL MVP Award. At the time his 2,053 yards was the second most in league history.

In 1988, Sanders had 2,628 yards in 11 games. That was good enough for a 238.9 yard per game average. He also had 222 yards in a bowl game that year, but stats from bowl games were not officially included in season totals until more than a decade later.
7. First overall pick in the NFL Draft.

Answer: Billy Sims

Sims went #1 overall in 1980. Sanders went #3 overall in 1988.

8. Was a backup running back to his own brother his junior and part of his senior year of high school.

Answer: Barry Sanders

Byron Sanders, Barry's older brother, was in the same grade as he was in high school.

Barry was the starting tailback his sophomore year, but was supplanted by his brother for his junior year. Barry took back the starting job after the first four games of their senior year.

Byron would go on to play in college at Northwestern University and was drafted by the Bears in the 9th round the same year Barry was the #1 overall pick.

Byron never played in a regular season game. He joined his brother on the roster in the preseason for 1994 in Detroit.
9. Scored 47 career NFL touchdowns.

Answer: Billy Sims

10. First NFL player to appear on the cover of "Madden NFL" multiple times.

Sanders was the first player to be on the cover twice. He was on the cover in 2000 and again in 2013 for the 25th anniversary edition. Both times were after he retired.

Sims, who never played after 1984, was out of football before the first "Madden" game was released.
