The 2008 Tour De France is the first Tour since the 1967 Tour De France to start without a prologue. Addition to that Christian Prudhomme, Tour Director, announced that the time bonuses at the end of stages would be removed and the time trials would be 82km, shorter than usual. Italy was the only country that the Tour went through in 2008, besides France.
2. What team was barred from the 2008 Tour De France?

Answer: Astana

The Astana team was banned from the 2008 Tour because of doping from the 2007 Tour. The team withdrew from the 2007 Tour when they found out that their team leader, Alexander Vinokourov, tested positive for blood doping. In 2008, the team signed on Alberto Contador, 2007 Tour De France winner, and Levi Leipheimer.

They also got a new director, Johan Bruyneel, who was the director the Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team.
