Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Won eight PGA tour events in single year, twice.

Answer: Arnold Palmer

Palmer won eight events in 1960 and again in 1962. Nicklaus won seven events in a single year in both 1972 and 1973. The record for most wins in a season was one that neither golfer ever came close to. Byron Nelson won 18 events in 1945.
2. Won the first ever World Match Play Championship in 1964.

Answer: Arnold Palmer

Palmer won the tournament in 1964 and again in 1967. Gary Player won the 1965 and 1966 tournaments making Palmer the second person to win the tournament twice. Nicklaus won the tournament in 1970.

The tournament was started by Mark McCormack (Palmer's agent) to showcase the skills of several of his own clients. Initially 8 players were invited each year, by the end of the 20th century the tournament had expanded to 16 players annually.
3. Captained the U.S. UBS Cup team four times.

Answer: Arnold Palmer

The UBS Cup was a competition between the U.S. and the "rest of the world" which was held four times from 2001-04. Palmer was the U.S. captain each time. 4. Has a drink made up of tea and lemonade named after him.

Answer: Arnold Palmer

Palmer drank the drink most of his life, often having to describe it to various bartenders and the like to order it. It started to catch on as people who had seen him order the drink started to order it as well. The exact origins aren't directly known, but the story has been told that way with only slight variations.

In 2001 Palmer licensed his name and image to a drink company to start selling a line of drinks called "Arnold Palmer" that were half tea and half lemonade, though Palmer himself preferred a three part tea to a single part lemonade mix.

Answer: Jack Nicklaus

Through the first 15 years the award was given out, 2000 was the only time two or more golfers got it the same year. Only male professional golfers are eligible for the award.
