Dale Jr. had a really good car pretty much the whole race. He started in 19th place (last place) and finished 1st. Way To Go Jr.

No there were no cautions, no wrecks, there were a few bumps, scrapes and close calls, but it stayed caution free. This year they did things a little different, they ran 20 laps, then took a 10 minute break, and then raced to the finish for 50 laps, everyone had to pit atleast once.

When they pitted, they ALL pitted, it almost looked like a caution would come out, but they managed not to wreck. Lots of tires locked up, most drivers took 2 tires, only a few took none, and 1 took 4.

This year the Shootout was held on Saturday rather than Sunday, it was run at night rather than the day time, and some of the cars had new paint schemes.

Ford had 7 drivers: Matt Kenseth 3rd, Ricky Rudd 8th, Kurt Busch 11th, Todd Bodine 13th, Mark Martin 17th, Dale Jarrett 18th, and Geoffrey Bodine 19th. Chevy had 6 drivers: Dale Earnhardt Jr. 1st, Jeff Gordon 2nd, Jimmie Johnson 7th, Kevin Harvick 9th, Terry Labonte 14th, and Tony Stewart 15th.
Dodge had 5 drivers: Ryan Newman 4th, Ward Burton 5th, Ken Schrader 6th, Rusty Wallace 12th, Bill Elliott 16th
Pontiac had 1 driver: Ricky Craven 10th
