Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. With a crowd of over 65,000 in Olympic Stadium for the Grey Cup, what ranking does that crowd size have amongst previous Grey Cups?

Answer: 2nd

The only larger Grey Cup crowd was also in Olympic Stadium, a gathering of over 68,000.
2. What was the longest winning streak of the season?

Answer: 12

Winnipeg strung together 12 victories beginning August 3rd, 2001, and 10 of those games were won by a combined total of 38 points. The only blowout was against Hamilton 63-31 on September 8th.
3. How many times did a team fail to score ten points in a regular season game?

Answer: 10

Three times for Edmonton, twice each for BC, Montreal, and Saskatchewan and once for Winnipeg.
4. What was the largest regular season attendance?

Answer: 48,279

On September 7th, 48,279 squeezed into Commonwealth Stadium to see the Esks take on the eventual Grey Cup champs, the Stamps. This is about 7,000 less than the crowd at the same game the year before.
5. Who lead the league in Team offence with 6606 combined passing-running yards?

Answer: Edmonton

Despite a terrible season, the Eskimos combined for 1877 yards on the ground and 5054 in the air to lead the league. I would have thought Khari Jones and the Bombers would have taken this honour, but they finished a surprising 5th.
6. Which runner led the league in rushing in the 2001 season?

Answer: Michael Jenkins - Toronto

Mike Jenkins walked away with the running honours, going for 1484 yards, beating out Anderson and Pringle. Surprisingly, only 5 runners went over 1000 yards in the pass-happy CFL and none of them were wearing a BC uniform!
7. Which QB led the league in passing efficiency in 2001 - minimum 200 passing attempts?

Answer: Jason Maas - Edmonton

Jason Maas had a surprising 95.4 passing efficiency in a disappointing Edmonton season. Ben Sankey for Calgary went over 100 in efficiency but only passed 156 times.
8. Which CFL starting QB led the league in interceptions thrown?

Answer: Khari Jones

Despite a storybook season, Jones tossed the ball to defenders 23 times, 50 percent more times than Toronto's Jimmy Kemp.
9. How long was Saskatchewan kicker Paul McCallum's CFL record breaking field goal?

Answer: 62

He booted a 62 yarder to beat the previous mark of 60 yards.
10. How many missed one-point converts did CFL kickers miss in 2001?

Answer: 0

None that I recall, or are listed on the CFL website.
