Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. PHC Zebras; Somerset Trojans; Dandy Town Hornets

Answer: Bermuda

Established in 1928, the Bermuda Football Association is one of the earlier full leagues to be established in the Caribbean and one of the seventeen original nations to join the CFU (Caribbean Football Union) five decades after its inception in 1978. With the Bermudian Premier Division at the top of its leagues, its teams fight for the annual Bermuda FA Cup with most wins, across its history, coming from PHC Zebras out of Warwick and the Somerset Trojans, who originally played under the name Somerset Cricket Club.
2. Tauro Fútbol Club; Club Deportivo Árabe Unido; San Francisco Fútbol Club

Answer: Panama

Part of the Unión Centroamericana de Fútbol, or the Central American Football Union, Panama has an extensive football history with league games being played as far back as the 1860s. This said, league football was established in 1988 with the Liga Panameña de Fútbol taking in the nation's top twelve teams, amongst which Tauro F.C., C.D. Árabe Unido, and San Francisco Chorrera have been its most celebrated.

In 2018, Panama qualified for their first FIFA World Cup, reaching the Group Stages.
3. Deportivo Saprissa; Liga Deportiva Alajuelense; Club Sport Herediano

Answer: Costa Rica

Saprissa, Alajuelense, and Herediano are amongst the teams who've, historically, received a majority of Costa Rican league wins across the nation's football history, each winning dozens of years each. The Federación Costarricense de Fútbol, created to oversee Costa Rican football, was established in 1921 and it started with only seven teams, eventually expanding to a dozen at the sport's highest level. Costa Rica, at an international level, has also qualified for the FIFA World Cup several times, reaching the quarterfinals in Rio de Janeiro in 2014 (though losing to the Netherlands, who went on to finish third).
4. Club Deportivo Futbolistas Asociados Santanecos; Club Deportivo Águila; Asociación Deportiva Isidro Metapán

Answer: El Salvador

Home to the Salvadoran Football Federation since the mid-1930s, football is without a doubt one of El Salvador's most popular sports. La Liga Mayor, or Primera División, was developed in an effort to curb informality, scandal, and unfairness in the nation's sports organizations, but it has a spotty history both within its own teams and with FIFA.

Despite this, it's resulted in a diverse field of teams at its higher levels with all those in question being multi-championship winners. El Salvador's national team qualified for their first FIFA World Cup in 1970 (in Mexico).
5. FC Villa Clara; FC Pinar del Río; Club de Fútbol Camagüey

Answer: Cuba

One of the older football leagues of the Caribbean, Cuba's Campeonato Nacional de Fútbol de Cuba was formed in 1912, and with such a long history, it means that more than two dozen teams in the league have been able to take the grand prize. Of those, FC Villa Clara was the first to crack a dozen league wins.

The Cuba national team went to one FIFA World Cup during the 20th century, reaching the quarterfinals in France in 1938. There, they lost to Sweden 8-0. Sweden would subsequently fail to place.
6. Defence Force Football Club; W Connection Football Club; San Juan Jabloteh Football Club

Answer: Trinidad and Tobago

Based in Trinidad, the TTFA is the governing body that oversees all league play in Trinidad and Tobago, elevating its best ten clubs to the TT Pro League to fight it out for several sponsored cups including the FA Trophy and the First Citizens Cup. Defence Force F.C. is by far the historical top of the heap as, since their establishment in 1978, they've won numerous titles and topped out the CONCACAF Champions League.

The 'Soca Warriors', the national team, went to their first FIFA World Cup in Germany in 2006.
7. Club de Fútbol Motagua; Club Deportivo Olimpia; Real España

Answer: Honduras

The national sport of Honduras, football was formalized with its own governing body there at a similar time to other nearby nations (the mid-1930s) and the country has since seen its own major successes on the international stage. The Honduras national team, for instance, has visited the FIFA World Cup several times, making the Group Stages in 1982, 2010, and 2014.

At home, Honduras' Liga Betcris de Honduras is their top league wherein teams fight for the Honduran Cup. More than fifty of those championship matches have seen Club Deportivo Olimpia take first or second prize while Club de Fútbol Motagua and Real España have been much accomplished as well.
8. Comunicaciones Fútbol Club S.A.; Aurora Fútbol Club; Cobán Imperial

Answer: Guatemala

Liga Nacional de Fútbol de Guatemala is the go-to in the nation of Guatemala and its best teams all compete in the Copa de Guatemala, or Copa Centenario. Though the country has seen a good number of teams take the prize since its founding as a professional league in 1940, both Comunicaciones Fútbol Club S.A. and Club Social y Deportivo Municipal, each based in Guatemala City, have won their annual championship more than thirty times, accounting for more than half a century of success combined.

Nationally, Guatemala has also been a qualifying Olympic team on a number of occasions.
9. Tivoli Gardens Football Club; Waterhouse Football Club; Cavalier Soccer Club

Answer: Jamaica

The National Premier League for Jamaica was established in the early 1970s, sixty years after the nation founded the Jamaica Football Federation to oversee the sport. All three of the teams selected for this question are based in the nation's capital, Kingston, though the top league also sees regular representation from Montego Bay, Portmore, and other smaller cities. Portmore United F.C., for instance, is a highly-celebrated team.

Nationally, the Jamaican men's football team, dubbed 'Reggae Boyz', qualified for their first FIFA World Cup in 1998, participating in the Group Stage in France.
10. Verdes FC; Placencia Assassins Football Club; San Pedro Pirates Football Club

Answer: Belize

Belize's top sport, football holds a special place in Belize's competitive sphere, and with it being a smaller country it's no surprise that its Premier League is also smaller than most other Central American leagues (with only eight teams).

The modern Premier League was formed in 2011, combining a complicated duo of federations built to oversee the sport, and as such the league's history is a lot more recent than other countries' as well. All teams listed in the question here have been champions though the Belmopan Bandits have been considered the ones to beat.
