1. Former England manager, Sven Goran Eriksson, took over at Eastlands as manager of Manchester City. In his first month he made a number of signings, including Brazilian international Elano. What number did the attacking midfielder wear?

Elano joined city in July 2007 from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk. He joined the Ukrainian side from Santos in 2005, he won the Ukrainian league title and Super Cup in 2006. Elano made 49 appearances for Donetsk and scored 14 goals. Whilst playing in Brazil, he won league titles with Santos in 2002 and 2004.
He has represented Brazil at senior level and was part of the squad that won the Copa America in 2007.
2. Premiership champions from the 2006-07 season, Manchester United, did not rest on their laurels. They made several major signings. One of those signings was England international midfielder, Owen Hargreaves. Did he wear the number 7 shirt?

Hargreaves had the rather peculiar statistic of playing for England even though he was not born in the country, and had never lived there until he joined Manchester United in June 2007 from Bayern Munich. His parents are English, they migrated to Canada where Owen was born, and his family then moved again to Germany in 1997 where he joined Munich's youth team. During his seven-year spell in Germany, Owen won many honours.

Including, four Bundesliga titles, UEFA Champions League in 2001, FIFA Intercontinental Cup in 2001, 3 German Cups and one German League Cup. Hargreaves was named European young Player of the Year in 2001.
3. Tuncay Sanli was signed by Middlesbrough in time for the start of the 2007-08 Premiership season. Which number did the striker wear?

Tuncay was signed from Turkish giants Fenerbahce. He spent five seasons with them, making 154 appearances and scored 59 goals. He won league titles with Fenerbahce in 2004, 2005 and 2007. Tuncay has represented the Senior Turkish side and helped them to third place in the inaugural FIFA Confederations Cup in 2003. During this competition he won the Silver Ball award as the second highest scorer. That tournament will always be remembered for the tragic death of Cameroon international Mark Vivien-Foe, who died of heart failure during the semi-final match against Colombia.

Czech international Rozehnal was signed from Paris Saint-Germain in June 2007.
David has played in his home country for Sigma Olomouc. In Belgium for Club Brugge, where he was a league champion in 2005, as well as in France with PSG.
Rozehnal has had the honour of representing his country at Euro 2004 and at the World Cup in 2006.

Harry Redknapp signed Utaka from French team, Stade Rennais. He couldn't have made a better start, he scored in the 2-2 draw. He is a Nigerian international. He was a member of the squad at the 2002 World Cup Finals and played in Japan and South Korea. He has also been a part of the squads that have finished third in the last two African Cup of Nations tournaments.

Manager Steve Coppell, signed Fae from French side Nantes, the only other club he had played as a professional for. During his time in France he made 110 appearances for Nantes. As a youth he represented France at Under-17 and Under-21 levels. He was apart of the Under-17 team that won that levels World Championship in 2001.

However, following rule changes concerning national team eligibility, he switched his allegiance to the birthplace of his parents, Ivory Coast. He has played for the Ivory Coast at senior international level. Fae was part of the squad that played in Ivory Coast's first ever World Cup, in 2006, in Germany.

Roy Keane beat off the interest of fellow Premier League sides, Aston Villa and Arsenal, to secure his signing from Scottish side Heart of Midlothian. Craig was very impressive in his debut, a 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.
Gordon is a product of Hearts youth academy. He made 139 appearances between the posts for Hearts. During this spell, he was called into the senior Scottish National team.
