Answer: Jean Alesi - Retired

Jean Alesi recorded the fastest lap of the 1995 Monaco Grand Prix, just before his retirement from the race because of a spin on lap 42. It was 1:24.621. Michael Schumacher came first but didn't record the fastest time. Damon Hill finished 2nd, 34.817 seconds behind Michael Schumacher. Blundell didn't retire as he finished 5th.
2. Ayrton Senna fatally crashed at Imola 1994, driving a Williams FW16.

Answer: True

Senna did die at Imola while driving a Williams FW16. He went off at the Tamburello corner on lap 5.

Jean Alesi crashed in testing. Rubens Barrichello launched into the wall at practice. Roland Ratzenberger was killed in qualifying. JJ Lehto stalled on the grid and cars went into the back of him. And then of course, the tragic Ayrton Senna incident.

Bernie Ecclestone had a huge argument with the owner of Brands Hatch circuit, and since, F1 has never returned there. Nigel Mansell won that race with Williams-Honda.

Answer: Catalunya, Suzuka & Istanbul

Catalunya's record was set by Giancarlo Fisichella in 2005, Suzuka's record was set Kimi Raikkonen in 2005, and obviously Istanbul was not used as a race venue until 2005. The other 15 circuits that took part in the '06 season have. 2004 was 'lap record' year. Amazing!
6. In the 2006 USA GP at Indianapolis, how many cars actually finished the race?

Answer: 9

22 cars started the race but only 9 finished. A crash at the first corner took out Christian Klien, Franck Montagny, and Mark Webber. Another crash between the first and second corners took out Kimi Raikkonen, Juan Pablo Montoya, Nick Heidfeld, and Scott Speed.

As a result of the second crash, Jenson Button's car had been damaged and he had low water pressure, then retired 3 laps into the GP. Then on lap 6, Takuma Sato and Tiago Montiero collided taking Sato out of the race, while Montiero carried on until lap 9, when he was forced to retire because of his collision with Sato, 3 laps earlier. Villeneuve suffered an engine failiure on lap 23 that took him out. Christijan Albers retired due to a blown gearbox on lap 37. On lap 62, Ralf Schumacher retired.

This would turn out to be Montoya's last F1 race, while Nico Rosberg was the only finisher to not score any points from this race.

The MP4 21 was used in the 2006 season. The MP4 4 was the world championship winning car of Ayrton Senna in 1988. The MP4 13 was the car that Mika Hakkinen used to win the 1998 world championship.
8. When was Ferrari's last championship victory before going without any title wins for more than 20 seasons?

Answer: 1979

Jody Scheckter won the world championship with Ferrari in 1979. After that, the next time Ferrari would win a world title was in 2000 with Michael Schumacher. He had already won the championship in 1994 and 1995. He would go on the win the championship another 4 times in 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004, making him the first ever 7 time world champion.
9. Who did Gilles Villeneuve collide with that subsequently caused his death in 1982?

Answer: Jochen Mass

At Zolder 1982, Friday practice, Gilles Villeneuve clipped the back of Jochen Mass' March. Villeneuve's Ferrari went airbourne and he was thrown out of his car into the catch fencing. He died later that night. Ferrari pulled their other driver out of the race as a mark of respect for Villeneuve.
10. McLaren went through the 2006 season winless, but which one of these races did Kimi Raikkonen finish 2nd?

Answer: Albert Park

McLaren had no victory in 2006, but Kimi Raikkonen managed to finish 2nd in the Australian Grand Prix. He subsequently managed to finish 2nd having qualified on pole position for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. Juan Pablo Montoya finshed 2nd at Monte Carlo, and Felipe Massa finished Suzuka in 2nd place behind winner Fernando Alonso.
