In 2006 he was the FIFA World Player of the Year.

This was Pele's last and third cup win. Carlos Alberto (1944-2016) was a right back defender and was capped 53 times by Brazil. In the final he scored one of the greatest goals of a World Cup final receiving a pass from Pele being the fourth and clinching goal of the game.
He and Pele were both selected in the World Team of the 20th Century.
