1. Which filly was the first filly to run in all the Triple Crown races?

Answer: Genuine Risk

She won the Kentucky Derby, and placed in both the Preakness and Belmont Stakes in 1980. Ruffian won the fillies Triple Crown. Go For Wand never raced in any of the classics. Regret only ran in and won the Kentucky Derby.
2. Who was the only horse to beat Man O' War in a sanctioned race?

Answer: Upset

Upset was the only horse to ever beat Man O' War. Fair Play was Man O' War's sire. John P. Grier raced against Man O' War a few times, but never beat him. Broomstick ran in the early 1900s.
3. Which filly broke down in the 1990 Breeder's Cup Distaff?

Answer: Go For Wand

Go For Wand broke down in the home strech of the Distaff. She was running neck and neck with Bayakoa. This was the race that actually made tracks have horse ambulances on the field and a screen so people wouldn't have to see a horse being put down right on the track.
4. Who was the famous gelding of the early and mid 1970s?

Answer: Forego

Forego ran 4th to Secretariat in the 1973 Kentucky Derby. Kelso was the famous gelding of the 1960s. Exterminator was the famous gelding from 1918 through mid 1920s. John Henry was the famous gelding from the 1980s.
5. Who is the first horse to beat two Triple Crown winners in the same race?

Answer: Exceller

Exceller beat both Seattle Slew and Affirmed in the 1978 Jockey's Gold Cup. Citation won the Triple in 1948. Alydar placed in the Triple Crown. Sham ran second to Secretariat in the 1973 Kentucky Derby and Preakness.
6. This horse only won one race in his career. Who is he?

Answer: Broker's Tip

Broker's Tip only won the Kentucky Derby. He is more famous for the fighting finish in 1938 than the actual win.
7. Which horse is famous for never winning a race?

Answer: Zippy Chippy

Zippy Chippy raced 100 times, and every time he never came in first.
8. These two horses are tied with 16 consecutive wins each. Who are they?

Answer: Citation and Cigar

Citation and Cigar both won 16 races in a row. Ruffian won 10 out of 11 races. In her 11th race she broke down. Personal Ensign won 13 of 13.
9. This horse is the first horse in history to be disqualified from a Breeder's Cup race. Who is she?

Answer: Fran's Valentine

Fran's Valentine, who battled to victory in the inaugural Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies in 1984, was to be disqualified and placed tenth for interference. Wild Again won the inaugural Breeders' Cup Classic. Alysheba won the Classic in 1987. Curlin won this year's (2007) Breeder's Cup Classic.
10. This horse finished his last race on three legs and a heart. Who was he?

Answer: Black Gold

Black Gold, winner of the 1924 Kentucky Derby, refused to be pulled up and crossed under the wire in his final race in 1928. He had broken his ankle and his leg was only held together by the bandage. Ruffian broke down in her final race also but was pulled up in 1975. Sunday Silence passed away at the age of 16 due to a heart attack in 2005. Easy Goer died at the age of eight in 1994.
