The Alabama elephant mascot began in 1930 when an anonymous fan shouted "Hold your horses, the elephants are coming." Big Al, in costume, made his debut at the l979 Sugar Bowl.

Following Bear Bryant, Alabama was coached by Ray Perkins 1983-1986, Bill Curry 1987-1989,and Gene Stallings 1990-1996. Bobby Bowden began coaching 1n 1954 and coached at Howard College (now Samford University in Birmingham, Ala.), South Georgia College, West Virginia University, and Florida State University. He retired from FSU in 2009 never having coached at Alabama.

Alabama's band first began in 1912 with 14 members. Beginning in 1936 under the leadership of Colonel Charleton K. Butler, it rose to a nationally prominent college band. It is reported that the band earned its name in 1922 at game between Alabama and Georgia Tech which Georgia Tech won 33-7. W. C. Pickens, an Alabama alumnus, was asked "What do you have at Alabama?" He answered "A million dollar band."

Answer: Johnny Mack Brown

Johnny Mack Brown played football at the University of Alabama. In 1926, he led his team to an NCAA division 1-A national championship. That year he was named MVP in the Rose Bowl game. He went on to an acting career that spanned from 1927 to 1966, making more than 160 movies.
