Answer: Roger Bresnahan

The others were all catchers in the 1907 season. Bresnahan of the New York Giants was hit in the head by a pitch in 1905. He came up with and somewhat perfected the idea by wearing them both in 1907. It was called the "pneumatic head protector". Roger began his career in 1897 as a pitcher with the Washington Senators of the National League, then moved to various positions but mostly as a catcher.

Answer: Eddie Grant

Grant of the New York Giants was in his 10th season of Major League baseball when he was called to war in 1915. He was killed on October 5, 1918, in France.

Voiselle was nicknamed "96". In 1947, he wore the number 96 with the New York Giants and Boston Braves of the National League. At the time he was from "Ninety Six, North Carolina". Bill retired after the 1950 season, playing in nine. He never the league in any positive category. He was born in 1919 in Greenwood, S.C., and died in 2005 in the same city.

The Yankees won the World Series from 1950-1953, then again in 1956 and 1958. Their losing series endeavors in the decade were in 1955 to the Dodgers, and in 1957 to the Milwaukee Braves. The Yankees went over the 100-mark only once in the decade, and that was in 1954 when the team went 103-51.

They finished that season in second place to the Cleveland Indians in the American League who went 111-43. The Indians went on to lose the World Series against the Giants, four games to none.

In 1912, under the name New York Highlanders, the team finished last with a 50-102 record. The New York club took on the name 'Yankees' in 1913, and had a care-free stretch from then on. But, in 1966, the team finished last in the American League, 26.5 games back of the AL pennant winning Baltimore Orioles.

The Yankees had the bats, but no pitcher won more than 12 games in the season. Starter Mel Stottlemyre went 12-20 in the season. In the 1960s, the Yankees went to five consecutive World Series from 1960-1964, and they lost three.
