Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In 1954, the Washington Senators signed their first 'bonus baby' in Killebrew. How old was he when he signed the contract?

Answer: 17

Harmon was a week shy of his 18th birthday when he signed with the Senators. Ironic the name Senators, because it was an Idaho U.S. Senator who prodded Harmon to sign with the team.
2. In 1967 Killebrew blasted a 530 foot shot, that shattered two seats in the left field upper deck at Metropolitan Stadium, against the Angels. What happened to those seats?

Answer: They were painted orange and never sold again.

Ironically the next game, Harmon hit a shot almost in the exact same spot, but hit the upper deck facade near the two seats.
3. What was Harmon's highest season home run total?

Answer: 49

In his best season, he smacked 49 big ones in 1969, along with 140 RBIs, and the All-Star MVP award. He hit 40 or more home runs 8 times in his career, and retired with 573.
4. How many times was 'Killer' ejected from a Major League game throughout his entire career, including the playoffs?

Answer: 0

Harmon was actually a gentle person who never drank either. Always calm and collected, he was never dismissed from a game.
5. What President requested an autographed home run ball at a game from Harmon, to give to his attending grandson?

Answer: Dwight Eisenhower

In May 1959, the President along with his White House Staff, joined the fans to watch the Senators and the Red Sox play. The ball received was for grandson David. The Senators beat the Red Sox 7-6.
