1. Jack Hatfield

Englishman Jack Hatfield (1893-1965) was a four-time Olympic competitor in the sport of competitive swimming. He won three Olympic medals and broke numerous speed records. After retirement he went into the sporting goods business. He was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 1984.
2. John Elway
Answer: American football
John Elway was the much beloved quarterback for the Denver Broncos from 1983 until 1998. Elway led his team to five Superbowls, winning two of them. At the time of his retirement he held the record for having the most vicotires by a starting quarterback.
In 2004, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year of eligability. He went on to become the General Manager of the Denver Broncos.
3. Sonja Henie

Norwegian figure skater Sonja Henie was one of the most world-famous athlaletes of her time. She won a record breaking ten world championships in a row (1927 to 1936). She won the gold medal in all three of the Olympics that she entered (1928, 1932 and 1936).
She turned her athletic career into a movie career and at one time was one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood. In 1976, she was posthumously inducted into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame.
4. Mickey Mantle

Mickey Mantle was a star baseball player from 1951 until 1968. Known as much for his batting skills as for his fielding Mantle was an important part of the New York Yankees with whom he played his entire career. Mantle was also known for his ability to hit both left and right handed. He was elected into the Major League Hall of Fame in 1974.
5. Ben Hogan

Ben Hogan is considered by many to be one of the greatest American golfers of the 20th century. Hogan was known for his golf swing and helped write a couple of books about it after he retired in 1971. There are two Ben Hogan Awards that are awarded each year in golf. One is for the male college golfer of the year, and the other is for the golfer who overcomes injury and remains in golf. Ben Hogan was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame as part of the inaugural class in 1974.
6. Jonah Lomu

Jonah Lomu, from New Zealand, is considered by many rugby union fans to be one of the finest all-around players ever. He played for the All-Blacks from 1994 to 2002. His power and his speed intimidated many teams. He helped to make rugby a more popular sport and helped it spread around the world.
His list of records is copious. He was inducted into the International Rugby Hall of Fame in 2007.
7. Bjorn Borg

Swedish tennis master Bjorn Borg was one of the premier players of his generation. He won over 11 grand slam titles (from 1974 to 1981) , 62 singles titles, and was rated the number one player in the world in both 1979 and 1980. He was known for the strength of his returns as well as his excellent footwork.
He retired in 1982 at the young age of 26. He was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Borg was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1987.
8. Mario Lemieux

Canadian hockey player Mario Lemieux is considered by most to be one of the greatest, most intimidating players in professional hockey. With a career of almost twenty years (1984 to 1997), his prowess on the ice inspired the Hockey Hall of Fame to induct him as soon as he retired instead of making him wait the previously required three years.
After induction and some time off for health issues, he went back and played another six years (2000 to 2006). No wonder he was nicknamed "Le Magnifique".
9. Don Bradman

Australian cricketer Sir Don Bradman is thought by many fans to have been one of the greatest Test batsman of all time. He retired with a test batting average of 99.94, which speaks for itself (next best at the time of his retirement was 60.73 by Herbert Sutcliffe). Bradman had a 20 year career lasting from 1928-1948. In 1999 he was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.
10. John Havlicek
Answer: Basketball
.John Havlicek had a long basketball career with the Boston Celtics. Nicknamed "Hondo", Havlicek was known for his versatility. He was such a well-rounded athlete that he could have gone pro in four other sports, but his love for basketball won out. He played from 1962 to 1978, scored over 26,000 points, and won eight rings, seems to verify that he chose the right sport.
He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame in 1984.
