Answer: 1980s

Paige began his Major League career in 1948 with the Indians after many seasons of Negro League baseball. He won an undocumented 2500 career games before his death in 1982. 1981 was the year of Fernando Mania, with Dodger pitcher Fernando Valenzuela who won both the Rookie of the Year and Cy Young awards.

The Earthquake Series was the 1989 World Series between the Athletics and Giants.
