The 1989 finals were a rematch of 1988, but with the Pistons besting the Lakers this time. The Pistons won the rematch 4-0 after Byron Scott missed the entire series and Magic Johnson missed the last 2.5 games, both with hamstring injuries. Joe Dumars was the MVP.
In 1990 the Pistons repeated as champions with a 4-1 win over the Trailblazers. Isiah Thomas was the MVP.
