Answer: New York

2. Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team as a sophomore, but did he play baseball for the school?

Answer: Yes

Jordan was a standout in football, baseball and basketball in high school. he played multiple years on the varsity squad for all three teams while attending Laney High. He failed to make the varsity basketball squad as a sophomore mostly due to his height, fellow sophomore Harvest Leroy Smith, was the only underclassman to make the squad. Smith also went on to play professional basketball for a number of years.

Jordan's high school football and baseball stats and highlights are harder to find, but he played on both varsity squads for at least two years.
3. What did Michael Jordan major in while attending the University of North Carolina?

Jordan played three years of basketball, and no other sports while at UNC. He left school following his junior year. He returned in 1986, while injured and unable to play in the NBA, to complete his Bachelors degree in Cultural Geography.
4. What league did the Birmingham Barons, the team Michael made his professional baseball debut with, play in?

Answer: Southern League

Jordan signed a Minor League Baseball contract with the Chicago White Sox on February 7, 1994, and reported to spring training with the team. By March 31 he was assigned to the Double-A Birmingham Barons. He started the season slow, and hit just .202 for the year, but got considerably better as the season progressed.
5. What team did Michael Jordan go on to play with after the season with the Barons?

Answer: Scottsdale Scorpions

Jordan, still needing to fine tune his game, went to the White Sox farm system's team in the Arizona Fall League.

The Fall League was tougher competition than he had faced with the Barons, and he improved on all of his statistics. He hit .252 with the Scorpions.
6. What jersey number did Michael Jordan wear for most of his baseball career?

Answer: 45

He was famous for wearing 23 on the basketball court, but with the new career came a new number. When he went to Birmingham Alabama, he donned the #45 for the season. With 45 already taken in Arizona, he wore 35 for the few dozen games he played in the Fall League.

He also wore #9 with the US Olympic Basketball team, and #45 for a few games in the NBA when he made his basketball comeback.
7. Due to a players strike in 1995, Michael Jordan was elevated to the White Sox as a fill in player.

Answer: False

During the 1995 MLB strike, Jordan was thought to be going to get a call-up. Rather than cross the picket line though, he chose to hang up his cleats. On March 18, 1995, after missing most of two seasons, Jordan announced "I'm Back" and returned to basketball for the final few games of the season.

He returned to the court the next night and scored 19 points despite not having even had a practice in more than 18 months.
8. After retiring from being a professional athlete, Michael Jordan bought into ownership of what professional team?

Answer: Charlotte Bobcats

Jordan bought a minority stake in the Charlotte Bobcats, who were still a relatively new team in the National Basketball Association. It was three years after he played his final NBA game that he bought into the team, which played not far from where he had grown up in North Carolina. In 2010 he bought out majority ownership of the team.
9. Baseball and basketball were the two sports he played as a professional, but what other sport was Jordan known to be a big fan of, often spending hours trying to perfect his game?

Answer: Golf

Jordan was an avid golfer during both his basketball and baseball careers. He was often seen at both driving ranges and on the links whenever he had a day off. He's played in many pro-am tournaments and at times has talked about maybe joining the senior professional golf tour.

As a business man, he's also bought several golf courses as investments.
10. How old was Michael Jordan during his rookie year in baseball?

Answer: 33

At 33, having not played organized baseball since he was 17, Jordan signed his "rookie" contract.

While never proven, it has been stated that the White Sox, which were owned by the same people as the Chicago Bulls, honored his basketball contract despite his retirement, and also paid him the rookie minimum for baseball. That, it was said, was in case he decided to return to the NBA, he stayed happy and in Chicago.

For a 33-year-old player, he caught onto the game quickly, but only played during the 1994 season in the minors, and into spring training 1995 before returning to basketball.
