1. Which of the following circuits is *not* located in the British Isles?

Answer: Zolder

The Zolder circuit is located in Belgium. It is unfortunately best remembered as the circuit that claimed the life of Gilles Villeneuve in 1982, and was only used as an F1 track for two years after that.
2. Which of the following circuits is not located in Australia?

Answer: Pukekohe

The Pukekohe circuit is located in New Zealand. Like Sandown in Australia, it was built around a horse racing circuit.
3. Which circuit is not on the 2005 Formula 1 calendar?

Answer: Jerez

Jerez was on and off the F1 calendar between 1986 and 1997, and is still used as a test track.
4. Which circuit had its first race on October 2, 1948?

Answer: Watkins Glen

There were 15 competitors for this race and it was won by Frank Griswold in an Alfa Romeo 2900 coupe. The track hosted Formula 1 from 1961 until 1980, when the circuit was considered too unsafe for F1 cars to continue racing on it.
5. Many changes had been made to the Le Mans circuit since it first opened. How much shorter was the circuit in 2005 than in 1921 when it opened?

Answer: 2.2 miles

It was 10.7 miles in 1921 and is now 8.4 miles. The major change came in 1932, when the 2005 track from the pits straight to Tertre Rouge was built.

With its streets lined with casinos and the harbour filled with rows of millionaire yachts, Monaco is one of the most glamorous street circuits in the world.

Marbles on the track caused 12 drivers to crash during the race. F1 susequently never returned there again.

Road America is a road course, located in Elkhart lake, Wisconsin.
9. The Buenos Aires circuit is located in which South American country?

Answer: Argentina

Motorsport became popular in Argentina in the 1950s thanks to Argentine Juan Manuel Fangio. The circuit opened in 1952 and the first Grand Prix was held at the track a year later.
10. Which circuit opened in 1967 and closed in 1994?

Answer: Baypark, New Zealand

Baypark was closed down to make way for a housing estate. A speedway track bearing the Baypark name still existed near the original site.
