1. Who defeated Newcastle United in the 1999 FA Cup Final?

Answer: Manchester United

Newcastle lost 2-0. Teddy Sheringham scored the first in the 11th minute and Paul Scholes added the second in the 53rd minute. They added the FA Cup to their trophy collection for that year and went on to win an historic treble, winning the Premiership, the FA Cup and the Champions League.

Ossie Ardiles was manager of Newcastle for just one year from 1991-1992. He moved from Swindon Town to take over at Newcastle for Jim Smith. Though he was able to score lots of goals, he had trouble keeping it tight at the back and was in trouble of slipping into the old Third Division. Kevin Keegan was brought in to try to save the club in February 1992.

Asprilla made the move from Parma to Newcastle in February 1996. He made his debut against Middlesbrough. Keegan origanlly had no intention of playing Asprilla and he started him on the bench. With 20 minutes to go and 1-0 down, Keegan brought Asprilla on who completely turned the game around, claiming an assist for the first goal.

The famous battle for the Premiership of the 1995-96 season was between Manchester United and Newcastle. At Christmas, Newcastle were 10 points clear at the top but through the rest of the season, Newcastle lost to Man United twice and were beaten in the end by four points.

Dyer scored one minute after the break and Gary Speed made it six in the 78th minute. Shearer netted two more in the 81st and 84th minute to make the final score 8-0.
Robson's first game in charge as manager was the week before, away at Chelsea (lost 0-1).

Newcastle won 3-1 against Manchester City with the goals coming from Hannah, Milburn, and Mitchell.

Gascoigne signed for Newcastle in 1980 and made his first team debut in April 1985 under manager Jack Charlton. However in 1988, Newcastle were struggling and Gascoigne was signed by Tottenham Hotspur. He played 99 games for Newcastle.
