Answer: Pat Burrell

The 25 year old left fielder, was in his 3rd season of the Majors, and with the Phillies. His first 2 seasons he hit 18, and then 27 in 2001. His nickname was "Pat the Bat".
2. Did the 2002 team have a 20 game winner?

Answer: No

The Phillies did not even have a 15 game winner. Vicente Padilla led the team with a record of 14-11, followed by Randy Wolf who went 11-9. These were their only pitchers who had double figure wins in the season.
3. In which season did the Phillies win their first World Series?

Answer: 1980

In their 3rd trip to the World Series, in 1980 they finally won it. Under the guidance of manager Dallas Green, they defeated the Kansas City Royals, 4 games to 2.
4. In which season did the Phillies play at Veteran's Stadium for the first time?

Answer: 1971

After playing at Shibe Park from 1938-1970, the Phillies moved to Veteran's Stadium. Before Shibe Park was the Baker Bowl for many seasons. 1993 saw the Phillies and their fans break the 3,000,000 season attendance mark.

Answer: Steve Carlton

Carlton won a remarkable 241 of his 329 career wins as a Phillie. Roberts wasn't far behind, as he won 234 in a Phillie uniform. The great Grover Cleveland "Pete" Alexander won 190 games as a Phillie, during his 8 season play in Philadelphia. Short had 132 wins.
6. In what year was Mike Schmidt inducted into baseball's Hall of Fame?

Answer: 1995

Schmidt played for 18 seasons in the Majors, and all with the Phillies. He banged out 548 home runs in his career, won 3 MVP Awards, and was a 12 time all-star. He retired in 1989, and was quick to join the Hall.
7. Who was the first Phillie to ever hit a World Series home run?

Answer: Fred Luderus

Although all these Phillies hit World Series home runs, Luderus was the first to go out in 1915. In game 5 of a Series that saw the Phillies lose to the Red Sox 4 games to 1, Luderus also batted .437. He hit only 7 home runs in the entire season.
8. The team was once called the "Liberties"?

Answer: False

The franchise began in 1883 as the Quakers. They also had the team name of Blue Jays. Neither the Quakers or Blue Jays ever won a pennant.
9. What former Philadelphia player, was killed mid-season in an accident?

Answer: Ed Delahanty

Ed Delahanty, one of many baseball brothers was a powerhouse for the Philadelphia club from 1888-1901. He was traded to the Washington Senators in 1902. In the season of 1903, Delahanty was killed when he fell from Niagara Falls in Canada. After 16 seasons of baseball, he died with a .346 average.
10. Connie Mack once managed the Philadelphia Phillies?

Answer: False

Connie Mack managed the Philadelphia Athletics of the American League for 50 years. He also managed the Pittsburgh ballclub prior to that. He retired in 1950 with over 3000 career wins.
