Answer: Blue Jays

The franchise began in 1883, known as the Philadelphia Quakers. The team did not move during the '43 and '44 seasons, as they continued to play at Shibe Park.

Answer: 1980

The team went to promised land 5 times in the 20th century. They finally won it all in 1980 against the Kansas City Royals, by beating them 4 games to 2. They were managed by Dallas Green, led by the bat of Mike Schmidt, and the arm of Steve Carlton.
3. What Phillie set a team record when he hit 48 home runs in a season?

Answer: Mike Schmidt

Schmidt provided 48 four-baggers in 1980, the year that the Phillies won the World Series. He broke his own team record of 45 set the previous year. Chuck Klein once set the team record with 43 in 1929.
4. What slugger played 10 seasons in a Philadelphia uniform, hit 185 home runs for them, was a three-time All-Star, and was runner-up in MVP voting in 1964?

Answer: Johnny Callison

Callison had consistent numbers throughout his entire career from 1958-1973. He came to the Phillies in 1960 and primarily played right field. The team that most feared him was the Los Angeles Dodgers. Callison registered more home runs against the Dodgers, than any other National League team.

This 23 year-old won 38 games in the Phillies inaugural season in 1890. He went 38-17, and struck out 222 batters. The great Grover Cleveland 'Pete' Alexander won 31, 33, and 30, in 1915, 1916, and 1917 respectively.
9. Which of the following, managed the team for 10 seasons?

Answer: Harry Wright

Wright was the only manager who reached the Phillies 10 year managerial mark including the 20th century. He managed the team from 1884-1893. Gene Mauch led the team for 9 seasons from 1960-1968.
10. After Recreation Park (1883-1886), where did the Phillies play their home games?

Answer: Philadelphia Baseball Grounds

In 1887, the Phillies called the 'Grounds' their home. They moved to the Baker Bowl in 1895, and then Shibe Park in 1939. From there it was Veterans Stadium in 1971.
