Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the final record for the Buffalo Bills for the 2007 season?

Answer: 7-9

This is the same record the Bills achieved in the 2006 season. Due to the team's many injuries, people thought their record would be much worse. But coach Dick Jauron strung the team together for a reasonable record.
2. A major disappointment in 2007 were the stats of Bills' defensive ends Aaron Schobel and Chris Kelsay. Schobel (a 2006 Pro Bowler) only had 6.5 sacks. How many did his counterpart, Kelsay, have in the 2007 season?

Answer: 2.5

Kelsay only had 2.5 sacks, compared to 5.5 he had in 2006. Schobel, who produced 14 sacks, had a 7.5 sack drop off. He was slow early in the season, but picked it up towards the end, collecting 4 sacks in the final 5 games of the season.
3. The Bills were stricken with an unlucky streak of injuries to their valuable players. They also had a league leading 17 men on injured reserve at the season's end. Which of the following players wasn't injured in the 2007 season and played all 16 games?

Answer: John DiGiorgio

John DiGiorgi, a backup middle linebacker at the beginning of the season, played all sixteen games in 2007 when Paul Posluszny, the starting middle linebacker was injured in week 3 with a broken forearm, which ended his rookie season. DiGiorgio took over and piled up 113 tackles, good for second on the team. Lynch sat out three games with an ankle injury, and Peerless Price had season-ending neck surgery.
4. With a revamped offensive line, the Buffalo Bills led rookie running back Marshawn Lynch to an impressive 1,115 rushing yards. How many games did Lynch run for more than 100 yards in the 2007 season?

Answer: 3

Lynch, playing in only 13 games (due to a nagging ankle injury), achieved the 100-mark total in three games, against the Cincinnati Bengals, Miami Dolphins, and Philadelphia Eagles. The Bengals' game was the one where Lynch rushed for 153 yards, a season high.
5. What player on the Buffalo Bills' roster had the highest quarterback rating?

Answer: Marshawn Lynch

Marshawn Lynch threw only one pass the whole season, and it went as a TD catch for tight end Robert Royal. He finished with a perfect quarterback rating. Edwards and Losman finished with 70.4 and 76.9 ratings, respectively.
6. Trent Edwards took over the permanent starting quarterback job in week 12.

Answer: False

J.P. Losman's final start of the season came in week 12, where he lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars with a poor start, which prompted coach Dick Jouran to replace him with rookie Trent Edwards as the starter in week 13.
7. Much thanks should go to the Bills offensive line for their productive 2007 season. It gave Losman and Edwards plenty of time to throw, and gave rookie halfback Marshawn Lynch lots of room to run. What major addition did the Bills add to their line when they signed this which guard in the offseason?

Answer: Derrick Dockery

The team signed big bulldozer Derrick Dockery (formally with the Washington Redskins) to a seven-year deal. One of the top restricted free agents on the market that year, he joined a dangerous rebuilt Bills offensive line that included Pro Bowler Jason Peters. Also, the Bills added another good lineman, when they signed starting right tackle Langston Walker (from the Oakland Raiders).
8. What player led the Bills in tackles for the 2007 season?

Answer: Angelo Crowell

Crowell finished the season with 126 tackles. DiGiorgio finished second on the team with 112. Whitner, who couldn't compile the numbers he achieved in his rookie year, still finished strong with 82 tackles. McGee came in fourth on the team with 77.
9. What player surprisingly made the Pro Bowl as a reserve from the 2007 Buffalo Bills squad?

Answer: Aaron Schobel

Only after compiling 6.5 sacks in the season, defensive end Schobel took the place of Miami Dolphins' end Jason Taylor (he declined to go due to injury). Aaron would be the only Bill in the 2008 Pro Bowl. However, Jason Peters was originally elected as a starter for the AFC squad at left tackle, but couldn't show up due to a groin injury.
10. After a five-way tie between 7-9 teams for the 2008 NFL Draft, what number did the Bills get for their first round draft pick?

Answer: 11

The highest the Bills could have gotten for the draft would be pick number nine, which was awarded to the Bengals. Although the record does not show, the 2007 Buffalo Bills season turned out to be a great one, with emerging stars such as Marshawn Lynch, Trent Edwards, Jason Peters, and Donte Whitner.
