Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which team was Marv Levy head coach for before the Bills?

Answer: Kansas City Chiefs

Levy coached the Chiefs from 1978-1982 and the Bills from 1986-1997. Though he failed to make the playoffs with the Chiefs, he did pull a terrible team up to average. With the Bills, he turned an equally terrible team into an excellent one. He finished his coaching career with a record of 154-120-0, and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001.
2. The Bills were the second team to lose 4 Super Bowls?

Answer: False

They were actually the third. Before them, the Vikings and Broncos had also lost all 4 Super Bowls they played in.
3. Who was the Bills' head coach from 1978-1982?

Answer: Chuck Knox

Like Marv Levy, Knox also inherited a dreadful Bills team and made it respectable. Knox's record with the Bills was 38-38-0.
4. The Bills were the only team that had two players with over 10,000 career yards rushing in the 20th century?

Answer: False

Thurman Thomas and O.J. Simpson were both over 10,000 yards for the Bills, but the Cowboys also had two in Emmitt Smith and Tony Dorsett.
5. Which team defeated the Bills in their only playoff appearance of the 1970s?

Answer: Pittsburgh Steelers

The Bills played their only playoff game of the 70s in 1974, and lost to the Steelers 32-14.
6. The Bills drafted O.J. Simpson out of Southern California in the first round of the 1969 draft. Who did they draft in the first round in 1970?

Answer: Al Cowlings

Cowlings was drafted one year after "the Juice". Haven Moses was the team's first round pick in 1968, DeLamielleure and Ferguson were both drafted in 1973.
7. Which of the following players set a Bills' for most receiving yards in one season?

Answer: Eric Moulds

Moulds' 1,368 yards in 1998 set a team record.
8. The Bills beat 4 different teams in their 4 consecutive AFC Championship game wins from 1990-1993?

Answer: True

The Bills beat the Raiders 51-3 in 1990, the Broncos 10-7 in 1991, the Dolphins 29-10 in 1992, and the Chiefs 30-13 in 1993.
9. What college did Bills great Thurman Thomas attend?

Answer: Oklahoma St.

Incredible as it seems, Thomas was a college teammate of the great Barry Sanders at Oklahoma St. in the 80s.
10. On November 25, 1976, O.J. Simpson broke his own NFL record of 250 yards rushing in a single game by rushing for 273, in a 27-14 loss to the Detroit Lions. How long did the new record last?

Answer: 1 year

O.J.'s record was broken by Bears Hall of Famer Walter Payton in 1977 during a 10-7 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Bengals running back Corey Dillon broke that record in 2000, with 278 in a 31-21 win over the Denver Broncos. Baltimore Ravens running back Jamal Lewis then broke the record again with 295 yards in a 33-13 win over the Cleveland Browns in 2003.
