Born on the 22nd of July 1980 in Brisbane Hospital. He grew up in New Zealand.

Scott won the Formula Vee class at the age of 13 in 1994, after getting special dispensation to compete. He won 13 out of 14 races in the 1995 Formula Ford 2 series, and in 1996 won the Formula Ford Class 1 series.

Scott had an impressive school record with most teachers pushing him to go to University, but racing was already well deep into the bones. The school and home in Manuwera was only a 10 minute drive from the Pukekohe race circuit.
